We are very pleased to announce that West Bamfield fibre optic aerial construction will be completed over the next couple of weeks. Testing, installations and activation will take place throughout July and August. For those that have already submitted a site survey request we will be contacting you shortly. If you have not done so yet, please contact us.

We would like to announce that to support self isolation/quarantine , effective immediately West Island Cable will be suspending ALL overage fees. Please use bandwidth responsibly. Stay safe folks!

Thanks everyone for your patience in the harbour this weekend. The Fibre to West Bamfield was laid to near perfection. Job well done by the crew which was equal parts; local brawn and marine wisdom. Lower Mainland technical folk, and the HFN/WIC Archaeology team. West Bamfield Fibre to the home service should be ready for surfing by Mid-April.

Epic weekend ahead! The team is VERY excited to be installing the underwater fibre optic cable between East and West Bamfield. Crews will be in town over the weekend to complete construction.

Some long awaited updates... Telus and BCHydro have given approval for fibre on poles in West Bamfield. We are finally weeks away from construction. The harbour crossing permit is imminent. We had to alter plans to accommodate a concerned party. West Bamfielders will have fibre optic Internet for Christmas. East Bamfield is enjoying unprecedented Internet service thanks to our new Fibre to the home network. ... There will be a brief interruption for WIRELESS clients only this evening as we migrate to the fibre circuit. This will give wireless folks more bandwidth until the fibre is active.

Customers may experience intermittent service interruptions, of up to 2 minutes, today as we continue our fiber optic upgrades. Our apologies for any inconvenience.

Spring has arrived; the sun is shining, skies are blue and our new fibre network is being installed throughout the community! We would like to welcome the Lite Access Technologies team to the community. They are onsite throughout East Bamfield. The crew is currently working on South Bamfield Road. Home Drop installations for East side properties are taking place now to prepare for activation early summer. Project Gigafy Bamfield Update For Immediate Release February 1 2018... We have just received word from our partner, Lite Access Technologies that a permit will be issued to West Island Cable by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure by March 1st. Crews are mobilizing, materials continue to arrive, East Bamfield installation will begin shortly thereafter. Site Surveys are ongoing, please contact us ASAP for connection details for your property/residence, or visit www.westislandcable.com. Unfortunately, due to concerns raised by Electoral Area A director, the West Bamfield portion of the project has been delayed. ETA - TBA. We continue to work toward bringing reliable, secure, lighting fast service, provided by a local family run business.
