What a year it has been. January thawed into a spring of upheaval when, faced with an unprecedented pandemic , we were forced to deal with a multitude of unknowns. But we dealt with it. And like a river that flows, we took each bend and curve, and adapted as nature allowed us to. This Thanksgiving, I am grateful.... I am grateful for our staff who, wanting to make our business work, brainstormed and came up with a workable system of operating that created a safe environment for our customers and ourselves. I am grateful for our suppliers who made it possible to get the impossible at times. Many went above and beyond to keep us well supplied. I am grateful for our customers for following our new ways of operating and for coming out to shopwe hope your gardens are the better for it, and that your spirit became more and more soothed as your hands got dirty and dirtier. I am grateful for our friends who listened with open hearts to our worries and joys. I am also grateful for our dogs Charlie and Bruce, and our cats Zena and WINnie, for reminding us every day of how important it is to greet them, pet them, and feed them, putting into focus the importance of respectful living. We got rewarded with their warmth, faithfulness, and comedic moments. I am a huge fan of our Amorosa family: My mother, everyone’s Nonna, who has shown us the importance of customer service by her never-flagging need to put the customer firstbefore lunch, before phone calls, before trying to close on time. My brother, who is a giant among men. Our kids, who came through, each in their own way, when we needed them. In these difficult times, we see how our family’s teachings are realized. And we give our deep thanks to you, and for our being able to provide a service to you that perhaps, for a moment, gave you hope for a better world. Je suis reconnaissante pour nos fournisseurs qui ont rendu possible parfois l’impossible. Plusieurs ont fait des pieds et des mains pour nous approvisionner. Je suis reconnaissante pour nos clients qui ont bien suivis nos nouvelles méthodes d’opération et qui sont venus pour magasiner; nous espérons que vos jardins sont d’autant plus beaux et que vos esprits ce sont apaisés quand vos mains devenaient de plus en plus sales. Je suis reconnaissante pour nos amis qui nous ont écoutés à cœur ouvert parler de nos joies et inquiétudes. Nous avons été récompenses par leur chaleur, leur fidelité et leurs moments comiques. Je suis fan fini de notre famille Amorosa : ma mère, la Nonna de tout le monde, qui nous a montré l’importance du service à la clientèle, de toujours mettre le client en prioritéavant le diner, avant le téléphone, avant de pouvoir fermer le commerce à temps. Mon frère est un géant parmi les hommes. Nos enfants, qui se sont élevés à la hauteur de la situation chacun à leur manière, quand nous avions besoin d’eux. Dans ces moments difficiles, nous constatons les apprentissages de notre famille. It was a most beautiful day today. Thank you to my customers who shared their lives, stories, frustrations, worries, and joys-all while picking up a plant, roll of sod, or bag of compost. I feel so very fortunate to be where we are, Bruce in tow. I start the morning by visiting my garden. I pick the Borage to use at a later time. If the Calendula is flowering I pick it too. I feel like Im storing courage from these flowers to help me through the day. ... Borage is the bloom on our logo. I chose it when we were changing our logo after our father died. I felt like we needed courage to face our new lives. Our dad paved a road for us to walk on which we try to respect and adapt to our changing world. We can all use a bit of help every now and then, remind ourselves that tomorrow will come and we dont have to face it alone. Reaching out can make a difference. My borage is abundant, I leave plenty for the bees to gather their precious pollen. Enjoy the upcoming fall. Our garden center is opened 7 days a week, 9-6 weekdays, 9-5 weekends. I toast you all with my nettle tea, laced with borage.
