Do you live in a new-build home? Be sure to check your smoke and CO alarms to ensure that the red tape has been removed. This red tape keeps dust from damaging the alarm's sensors during construction, however, it also blocks the sensor from detecting smoke. Be sure that there is nothing covering your alarms to keep you and your family safe.
Check out this cute stop motion video from our friends at the Burlington Fire Department. Always be sure to #watchwhatyoucook #FirePreventionWeek #WLFD
It's Fire Prevention Week, and we have an exciting contest for you! Create and send us your home escape plan for your chance to win! For more information on home escape planning, visit: https://www.nfpa.org//Staying/Preparedness/Escape-planning

Fire ban lifted. Please call the Town Offices to obtain a permit.
While returning from a call, WLFD crew came upon a motorist with a flat and assisted him. Above and beyond the call!
We are proud to once again sponsor our fellow firefighter, Chris Kivell, as he marches from London to Paris Ontario to raise money for the Royal Canadian Legions "Operation: Leave the Streets Behind" which is a charity that was established to help get veterans facing or experiencing homelessness off the streets and back to a place of honor and dignity.
Mystery got out of his enclosure last night and got stuck in the mud in a nearby pond. Our skillful firefighters worked together to carefully remove him from the mud, after a rest he was able to walk back to his barn.
Unfortunately, due to the lack of rain in West Lincoln, the fire ban is still in effect until further notice.

As you know, firefighters love giving back to our community! This week, with your help, we were excited to donate over $2,000 to the FORT Youth Center in Smithville. This donation will go directly to keeping programs free for the youth of West Lincoln. #smithvillefort
Due to dry conditions, a ban on open air burning is now in effect until further notice.
