A PRAYER FOR KCI & VICTORIA SCHOOL TEACHERS: In 1Timothy 4:12, we are told "Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity." Join us in prayer as we prayer this week for the teachers at KCI and Victoria School. Dear loving God, grant our teachers at KCI and Victoria School an abundance of Your wisdom. Prepare their hearts to welcome and love our loved ones, and may we make sure to show them love ...and respect in return. Give them grace as they help students who aren’t thriving, the courage to say what needs to be said, tools and knowledge on how and when to speak love, and strength when they feel weak. When they feel unseen, remind them that no moment goes unnoticed. They are shaping the future in one million small - yet incredibly important - ways every day. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the gift of learning they share with our children. Bless them, Lord, and may they see even just a glimpse of how their faithfulness will forever impact generations to come. Thank you for hearing our prayer. Amen. See more

HAVE A CHUCKLE A pillar of the church passed away and was on his way to heaven. When he got to the pearly gates of heaven, he met an angel. The angel asked him what God’s name was. Oh that’s easy, the man replied. His name is Andy. What makes you think his name is Andy? the angel asked. Well, you see at church we used to sing this song, Andy walks with me, Andy talks with me.... ---------------- PREACHER VS. MUSIC LEADER: There was a church where the preacher and the music director were not getting along. As time went by, this spirit began to spill over into the church service. The first week the preacher preached on commitment and how we should all dedicate ourselves to God. The music director led the song, I Shall Not Be Moved The second week the preacher preached on tithing and how we all should gladly give to the work of the Lord. The director led the song, Jesus Paid It All. The third week the preacher preached on gossiping and how we should all watch our tongues. The music director led, I Love to Tell the Story. With all this going on, the preacher became totally disgusted over the situation and the following Sunday told the congregation that he was considering resigning. The music director led, Oh, Why Not Tonight? As it came to pass, the preacher did resign. The next week he informed the church that it was Jesus who led him there and it was Jesus who was taking him away. The music director led the song, What a Friend We Have in Jesus. See more

As we move forth this week, let us be reminded of the words of our benediction from yesterday's service: We are called, each of us, ready or not, to proclaim on God’s behalf: A word of hope, a word of challenge, a word of warning; a word of healing. ... We are called, not because we are competent, intelligent or brave, but because the world needs to know that there is life beyond death, hope beyond despair, justice beyond injustice, and love always love beyond hatred and fear. That is our calling. God bless us as we live it day by day. (Juanita Austin, 1988) Have a great week everyone! God Bless.

MINUTE FOR MISSION: Young Palestinian Refugees Imagine living in a refugee camp with minimal rights to work, own property, or travel. Imagine families living in that campparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren all together. Imagine if those families could see no end to the cycle of poverty and violence they were experiencing living there. That reality is what Palestinians in 12 refugee camps in Lebanon have been facing for 70 years. The camps themselves are... overcrowded, and the infrastructure is deteriorating. More Palestinian refugees displaced from camps in Syria have added to the cramped living conditions. Youth, many rebellious and frustrated, are particularly affected by the overcrowding. Seeing no future, many of them drop out of school or are recruited by violent extremist factions in the camps. Mission & Service partner the Joint Christian Committee for Social Service in Lebanon, part of the Department of Service to Palestinian Refugees, is working to change that dynamic with a program for children aged 1115 called Children on the Go. The program offers an alternative to the growing culture of violence by providing at-risk youth with other ways to creatively express themselves and imagine a positive future. The program teaches conflict resolution and gives young people the skills to resist social pressures to resort to violence. And just as important for their future, the youth are given practical vocational training. They are then able to make a meaningful contribution to their families and their communities, learn skills, and gain the respect of peers, parents, and community. Your gifts to Mission & Service help build resilience and a culture of peace in the midst of conflict in the refugee camps of Lebanon. If Mission & Service giving is already a regular part of your life, thank you so much! If you have not given, please join me in making Mission & Service giving a regular part of your life of faith. HAVE A CHUCKLE - From Sunday's Bulletin The teacher asked her preschool class, "Now, how many of you would like to go to heaven?" All the children raised their hands except Tommy. The teacher asked Tommy why he wouldn't like to go to heaven. Tommy replied, "I'm sorry, but I can't, My mother told me to come right home after Sunday School."

Reading from Sunday - Distinguishing Human words from God's words at work - 1 Thessalonians 2:9-13 9 Surely you remember, brothers and sisters, our toil and hardship; we worked night and day in order not to be a burden to anyone while we preached the gospel of God to you. 10 You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed. 11 For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, 12 encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory. 13 And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.

Benedictions, though brief, offer words of assurance or precepts designed to bring joy, peace, comfort, and security to those who place their trust in God. This past Sunday, Gwen shared with us that "Our assurance comes in the gift of God's presence, in the renewal of Holy Spirit, in the presence of God's realm. The peace of Christ be with you." So let us go forth with these words from Sunday's Benediction.

INTERESTING TIDBIT ABOUT TODAY: November 1 All Saints Day November 2 All Souls Day In many churches, All Saints Day (November 1) celebrates all people of faith, recalling how, in New Testament usage, the word saints refers to Christians collectively, as well as those people of special significance who have been set apart by the church or canonized. It is the recognition of the common bond of Christians, both living and dead, and the common bond of the church here on Earth... and the church triumphant in heaven. If November 1 falls on a weekday, All Saints Day is generally observed on the following Sunday. For those traditions who use All Saints Day to commemorate canonized saints or those whose lives have been particularly Christ-like, All Souls Day on November 2 provides an opportunity to remember other Christians who have died. A simple, reflective service can provide an opportunity to invite those who have been bereaved during the year to gather to remember their loved ones in prayer. The night before All Saints Day was originally known as All Hallows Eve and, over time, became shortened to Halloween. Tracing its roots to an ancient Celtic day of the dead known as Samhain, it was believed that souls and supernatural beings would wander the night. Various traditions have merged over time, ranging from praying for saints and lost souls to children dressing up in costumes and going from door to door in search of treats. - Seasons of the Spirit Seasons FUSION Season of Creation Pentecost 2 2020 by Woodlake Publishing See more

Join us for Sunday Public Worship beginning at 11am. Proper 26 and Peace Sunday. There was a dream, wolves and sheep together, nations at peace, weapons of war turned into tools of harvest. There was a dream the vulnerable were supported, poverty and justice were broken, the aching made whole. Micol I. Cottrell, St. Paul’s U.C. Temiskaming Shores, Ontario
