Westmount Neighbourhood Association 10.11.2020

Exciting news! We have received a "Love My Hood" neighbourhood matching grant for traffic calming signs! The "How Slow Can You Go?" campaign will feature A-frame signs placed on boulevards along Dunbar and Glasgow for a week after each school holiday, to remind motorists to drive slowly and with caution during school hours. The next step is to design the signs and we are looking for YOUR creativity. Submit your design to [email protected] by November 15th. Then, we will ask neighbours to vote on their favourite design! You may use the "How Slow Can You Go?" tagline, but you also do not need to. The only stipulation is that these signs DO NOT mimic regulatory/city signs.

Many of you have asked about what Halloween will look like in our neighbourhood this year. We realize that all families/individuals are at a different threshold in terms of their comfort with balancing traditional halloween activities and COVID-19 concerns. Our recommendation would be to do what you and your family feel is best for you. That said, we get the impression that about 50% of neighbourhood families are still planning on going door to door to trick-or-treat, to g...ive you an idea of participation numbers, should you still like to hand out candy. If you choose to participate in a traditional trick-or-treat Halloween, please keep the following public health guidelines in mind: FOR TRICK-OR-TREATING: Please keep your distance (and wear your masks when you cannot keep your distance), wash hands when you get home, and ONLY trick-or-treat if you are symptom free. As usual, please only visit homes that have lights on or pumpkins out. FOR GIVING OUT CANDY: Wear a mask while handing out candy, use tongs (or create a fun way to keep some distance and hand out candy at the same time!), wash your hands often, and ONLY hand out candy if you are symptom free. As usual, keep your light on or your pumpkins out to signal that you are handing out candy this year.

Hiya- posting as a neighbour - not the WNA If you happen to see these skateboards discarded somewhere- please let me know. Or if you notice someone using them- please give them a stink eye for me! Someone stole both of children’s skateboards off our porch. Thank you!

School starts up next week -- which means our Westmount neighbourhood kids will be walking, cycling, bussing, and driving to school. To keep all our kids, pets, and neighbours safe we are launching a traffic calming initiative. If anyone is interested to loan their graphic design skills to create a design for the A-frame signs please reach out to: [email protected] Or, DM us More information on this exciting initiative will be coming soon. Stay safe!
