COMFORT FOOD In times of crisis food is more than nutrition. It can offer an opportunity for us to create, share and spend time with each other. In this current climate, the Coronavirus has taken so many lives, and waged war on economies throughout the world. Our project aims to bring some small comfort. By bringing artists together to give their impression of "Comfort Food" using different media we can give hope and at the same time pay tribute to those who have lost th...eir lives. When I think of my comfort food, I remember my grandmother cakes and pies and most of all licking the bowl after the batter is poured into the baking tin and placed in the oven. It was a veritable feast. Jackie Call for Toronto Community Artists who are 55+ Subject: Comfort Food This is a call for artists 55+ to submit short stories, poetry, photography or illustration on the theme, Comfort Food. A Cash Awards of $100 each for the 3 best entries. The ten best entries will be presented in a coffee table book as well as at the Areej Artists Centre Gallery. Part of the proceeds from this project would be donated to community art activities for seniors. Sponsored by: Areej Artists Centre and Artists to Artists Foundation Entry Deadline: August 15th, 2020 See more
For all the bad news out there with respect to #covid_19, disasters like COVID also bring out the best in people. Such was the case when Gus, owner of @eggsmartweston, donated 40 breakfasts to #frontlineworkers at @humberriverhospital this morning. Gus, we salute you for your #actofkindness and a big Shout Out also to @humberriverhospital for the amazing work you’re doing in caring for our sick during this deadly #pandemic. @westonwebdotca @westonnews @blog to @faisalhassanndp @ahmeddhussen @citynewstoronto #inthistogether #thistooshallpass #dineoutlocal #eggsovereasy #supportsmallbusiness www.westonvillagebia.com
