Something for home owners, businesses and Villages (nudge nudge) to consider - every bit helps. It’s easy and can save $$ too! #community #westportcares #letshelptheenvironment http://www.leaveleavesalone.org/home/how-to-mulch/
It is with great pride and love that we recognized (and surprised) our dear bloomin’ friend Donna Easter. We found out yesterday that the Westport Quilts of Valor group are the fourth highest in Canada for the production and presentation of Quilts of Valour to veterans. WOW. Ottawa, Thunder Bay and Trenton finished ahead ..... and how many people live in those cities?! Hats off and thank you dear, Donna, and to all those involved with Quilts of Valour. We are so proud of all of you!!
Pretty sure our Bloomer community loves our loons as much as we do. #gettheleadout
A little humour (reality) for this beautiful Sunday.
What....no Monarchs!? Please, for your information and consideration. #savemonarchs #pollinatorshaveapurpose #Westportcares

The answer from Round 3 of what the heck is this plant? Physostegia virginiana, the obedient plant, obedience or false dragonhead, is a species of flowering plant in the mint family, Lamiaceae. It is native to North America, where it is distributed from eastern Canada to northern Mexico. (Wikipedia) A quick-growing native perennial, the obedient plant (gets its name from the fact that the blooms will stay in place if they are moved to a different position) The obedient plan...t develops tall spikes of pretty trumpet-like pink, purple, or white flowers in the late summer and early fall that cut well for fresh arrangements. Plenty to be seen now in the Town Hall garden and the pollinator garden at Westport Spring. Did we mention the bees love them!! #pollinatorsrule
It is with mixed emotions that we share the news that our friend, Janette Auer, will be leaving Westport in Bloom. Janette has been with Blooms since 2013 and during that time was an active supporter and participant of our various initiatives. She, along with her trusty partner in crime, Betty Jo MacDougall, spearheaded our annual tree sale, the main fundraiser for Westport in Bloom. Now that she has scads of free time (wink wink), Janette, will be devoting her volunteer time to the Westport Library (re-opened yesterday BTW) in her relatively new role as Library Board Chairperson. Thank you, Janette, for your years of service and dedication to Westport in Bloom. PS - bagger or tagger next spring?
You go girls!!. #pollinatorgarden
