While COVID-19 may have put a damper on trad...itional summer recreation, we’re happy to share that the Towns of Stellarton and New Glasgow will be partnering to offer some fun recreation opportunities! Activities include: Trail Scavenger Hunts Geocaching Tennis Lessons And more! High Risk Offender Notification, Brett Andrew MacBeth, 21, New Glasgow, N.S. June 5, 2020 New Glasgow, Nova Scotia High Risk Offender-Notification... In accordance with the Nova Scotia Release of High Risk Offender Information Protocol, New Glasgow Regional; Police is advising all citizens in the New Glasgow area, of the release of a high risk offender. Brett Andrew MacBeth, 21 years of age, has been released from Dorchester Penitentiary in Dorchester, New Brunswick on May 28, 2020 after completing a sentence for sexual offences. He has a criminal record dating back to 2019 that includes convictions for two counts of Sexual Assault, Possession of Child Pornography and two counts of Print and Publish Child Pornography and is currently on Parole. He is described as white, 6-foot-2 and 255 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair. Brett Andrew MacBeth, must follow a number of strict conditions, including to not possess any prohibited firearm, restricted firearm, prohibited weapon, prohibited device or prohibited ammunition for life. In addition to not possess pornography and not use any electronic device capable of connecting with the internet. The information is provided to alert residents of the New Glasgow area of his presence in our community. We regret to inform you that due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the West Side Community Centre will no longer be offering our annual Summer Program for 2020. Although we will truly miss the children, the staff, and the families this summer, the safety of our community is paramount. We want to express our sincere gratitude to all those who expressed interest in our program both child participants and employment applicants, as we won’t be able to offer summer employment. To our... community we thank you for your continued support as we navigate through these difficult times together. We look forward to another awesome program for the summer of 2021. To all of our WSCC Power Play tournament players, friends, families and community supporters, Due to the World Wide Covid-19 Pandemic, we have had to make the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the 2020 tournament this coming June. This tournament is an amazing community event and means so much to the Centre and the children/adolescents in our area. The health and safety of our players, spectators, volunteers and community are our top priority. Our plan is to come ba...ck next year, stronger, bigger and better! For those of you who have registered and paid your fee, these will be refunded as soon as possible. Please remember, we are all in this together, if you can, donate to your local food banks, homeless shelters, and support our local businesses who remain open. Thank you to all Doctors, Nurses, Fire Services, Corrections, Grocery staff, Cleaners, and all essential workers. To our community, we thank you for your support, please stay home! Well that’s a wrap on our Winter Carnival 2020! What a fantastic weekend, and we couldn’t have done it without the help and participation of our community!
