Knowing that a long Winter lies ahead, Bob and Jeanne Christie decided to take a two day trip and visit as many of the lawn bowling clubs in "northern Southwest...ern Ontario" as possible. They visited 9 different clubs and recorded what they thought was the best signage because of how welcoming it was: "Seniors: we will save our small bowls for you. We will play a short jack length for you. You can play three times for free." Bob and Jeanne Christie started lawn bowling at the North Toronto LBC in 1987. They have been members of Willowdale, James Gardens, Uxbridge and Stouffville. They belong to all 4 of the Sun City, Arizona clubs where they spend the winter. * Sachant qu'un long hiver les attend, Bob et Jeanne Christie ont décidé de faire une excursion de deux jours et de visiter le plus grand nombre possible de clubs de boulingrin dans le "nord du sud-ouest de l'Ontario". Ils ont visité 9 clubs différents et ont noté ce qu'ils pensaient être la meilleure signalisation en raison de son caractère accueillant : "Seniors : nous vous réservons nos petites boules. Nous jouerons une courte longueur de cochonnet pour vous. Vous pouvez jouer trois fois gratuitement." Bob et Jeanne Christie ont commencé à jouer au club du Toronto Nord en 1987. Ils ont été membres de Willowdale, James Gardens, Uxbridge et Stouffville. Ils font partie des 4 clubs de Sun City, Arizona, où ils passent l'hiver.

Bowls England is saddened to learn of the passing of the man regarded by many as the greatest lawn bowler of all time, David J. Bryant CBE, at the age of 88. Da...vid won five Commonwealth Games gold medals, eleven World Outdoor Bowls Championship medals and nine titles at the World Indoor Championships during an illustrious career. He was widely recognisable as the face of bowls and was renowned for using a tobacco pipe whilst playing. He was awarded the MBE and then CBE for services to lawn bowls. David Tucker, Bowls England Board Chair, said: David was an icon for many decades, whose name was synonymous with our sport. He was well-respected by all who knew him. I was fortunate to compete against David on the green on many occasions, often coming on the wrong end of the scoreline, but a match against him was always a pleasure and includes many memories that I will never forget.
