While we're underway preparing some new material to post, I thought I'd post a few recordings from past performances. The first is our tribute to Dal Richards. ...Many of you got to spend time with Dal Richards when he worked with the band and after his passing, we asked Robert Buckley to create a work for the WVYB in Dal's memory. It was premiered at our concert entitled: "Dal's Place," which is also the name of the piece (published by Hal Leonard with the title Jitterbug). This performance is from the 2017 Con Brio Whistler Music Festival by our WVYB Touring Band - about half of the Symphonic Band, with Jamie Croil and Robert Buckley as guest soloists. WVYB has been in continuous operation since 1930. It is the longest standing Community Youth Band in Canada. Today the WVYB has close to 200 non-auditioned members in four levels of band and three string ensembles. Douglas Macaulay: "The WVYB's 90th anniversary season and there's this pesky pandemic.
