Update Regarding Upcoming Boxing Day Lockdown: To our valued guests, The Government of Ontario is encouraging all patrons to remain home during these trying times as per the lockdown mandate. As the province enters the second lockdown this year, it is understood that no travelling should be occurring between December 26th - January 9, 2021 (in the north). As we are an essential service, we have always and will continue to remain open with heightened Covid-19 precautions and... restrictions. We anxiously await the light at the end of this tunnel but as we continue to navigate these restrictions, we have and will continue to serve you. We hope to see some improvements in the coming year and we thank those who continue to support our community and the north. As we are still living in a Covid-19 world, precautions and safeguards are still in place while staying at the Westway. This includes, 1 person in the office with mask at a time, masks required in common areas, and increased sanitization of high-traffic surfaces in guest rooms. Stay Safe & Stay Warm!

Good Morning From The Westway! Another frosty one out there with the windchill feeling close to -30C. Hoping for a good snow fall in our forecast and hoping you stay warm!

And it's begun! The first trail in Ontario opens with Yellow (Limited Availability) status from Cochrane to the Gardiner Ferry! Great work by the crew at Polar Bear Riders Snowmobile Club Looking forward to more and more openings and what the winter has in store!

The temperatures have been a bit milder than usual this year but precipitation is in the forecast! Happy Earth Day 2020! . You never know what the weather will bring in Northern Ontario! With close to six inches falling upon us, this was our view all day yesterday. So much for spring! . Hoping that everyone is staying safe & healthy during these trying times.

Our hearts go out to the people of Nova Scotia, community of Portapique and the families affected by this terrible and senseless tragedy. In a time of national crisis, Canadians must now grapple with the aftermath of one of the deadliest killing sprees in Canadian history. #NovaScotiaStrong

Happy Easter to everyone far and wide! The Easter Snowman showed up here with a dumping of snow on Thursday with 10-15cm more expected today! . Hoping everyone is staying safe and although we may not be with family this Easter weekend, hoping you're able to connect another way and that the calm from this storm is on the horizon.

Amazing what the difference one year makes! April 7 2020 vs. last year April 7, 2019. We thought winter was going to be around a bit longer this year but mother nature had other plans! . We hope that everyone is staying safe and biding their time (in social isolation) until we return to normalcy in the world. . All the best from the Westway Team.

Normally our end of season looks a little different with our last snowmobilers posing with pride while the snow melts away. This year as we are faced with exceptional global circumstances and see our yard a bit more barren than normal at this time of year. . Although not always the easiest decisions to make, we applaud those businesses, organizations and individuals all doing their part to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Remember, if not out of necessity, PLEASE STAY HOME... during these trying times. . We want thank the Polar Bear Riders Snowmobile Club and all their volunteers for their tireless effort to ensure our trails continue to be the World's #1 Snowmobile Trails. Due to the pandemic COVID-19 and the constantly changing updates and directives from all levels of government, the OFSC has decided to CLOSE ALL Ontario snowmobile trails effective SATURDAY, MARCH 21, 2020 at MIDNIGHT. . Although this is not how any Northerner would like to see the season end, we understand that during unprecedented times, unprecedented measures must be taken.
