In this super old notebook, I started a new piece this week. Like all the writers I work with, the first steps are sketching out... Why me? Why now? Why this story? And, a log line and story spine, of course.

Playwrights and Screenwriters Don't miss out on securing your spot for Fall 2019
I'm sharing Lucia Frangione's post. " If youre a woman self producing or pitching a play to a theatre, please be part of the solution not the problem. There are plenty of gorgeous smart plays written by women, by Canadians, by diverse writers and by men who dont humiliate strip rape and murder their leading ladies. That isnt edgy, thats misogyny. Please stop giving these creeps a voice and royalties. I know that some of these productions happen because an instructor bri...ngs scenes from these plays to class. Sometimes actors are encouraged to strip in class and act out these scenes as a way to prove they are risk takers. Sometimes they are told, this is a safe place. It is not a safe place. In a classroom you do not have the protocol that a film set provides or a PACT theatre adheres to. In class you do not have the unions protection. In class you are often surrounded by amateurs. You have a right to ask for a different scene if the scene is demeaning. Bring something truly edgy to the stage: an intelligent conversation, a true connection, an honest performance. Seek out GG writers that havent been produced in your province yet who deserve a voice and all your energy. Sisters, I love you and respect you, showcase yourself with dignity" See more
