Weyburn Police Service Report February 1, 2021 The Weyburn Police Service received 79 calls for service during the week of January 25th through the 31st, resulting in 6 charges related to traffic violations and 16 charges being laid under the Criminal Code of Canada. The majority of the Criminal Code charges involve an individual failing to comply with a condition of their release.... On Monday, residents of an apartment building reported an unknown individual in their building. Police attended and took the individual into custody as he was found to be in possession of a weapon. The individual was charged accordingly. Police also received a report of a vehicle being damaged as it appeared someone attempted to gain entry but was not successful. On Tuesday, a total of 5 individuals were charged for failing to attend court as required to do so resulting in Warrants being authorized. Due to the pandemic, individuals compelled to court in Weyburn must appear by telephone until the court reopens to physical attendance. Further information is available on the internet at www.sasklawcourts.ca Police responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence on Wednesday. One of the involved persons was found to be in breach of their conditions and was charged accordingly. Police also attended a local care facility to assist staff with an unruly resident. Thursday was a mix of complaints as officers dealt with 911 calls as well as traffic, parking, and noise complaints. Officers also conducted a COVID compliance check and assisted a Social Services member checking on a residence. On Friday morning, officers responded to a medical emergency involving an adult male in cardiac arrest. Upon arrival the male was conscious and being attended to by EMS personnel. This incident was located just outside the city limit and a RCMP officer also responded to the call. During the weekend officers dealt with several calls of varying nature, including traffic and bylaw violations, COVID and wellbeing checks, and calls regarding mental health concerns. Officers responded to a 2-vehicle collision on Saturday resulting in no injuries but one young driver facing a charge of Proceeding from a Stop Sign Before Safe. Officers also responded to a call concerning an individual expressing the intent of self-harm. Weyburn Police Service 14.01.2021

During the lunch hour (approx 12:40pm), on Tuesday, December 29th, 2020, a male operating a Skidoo collided with an SUV in the back alley between 13th and 14th Street (Coteau Ave and Bison Ave area). The occupant of the SUV called WPS to attend but the male fled the scene on the Skidoo. The Skidoo is believed to be a 2008-2012 Skidoo Rev XP, possibly originally red but repainted white. The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, mid 20s to early 30s, average build, approx 6' tall, brown hair with a goatee and was wearing a toque and white jacket. The Weyburn Police Service is asking anyone who recognizes the Skidoo in the picture, knows who the male driver is or can provide any information regarding the incident to call 306-848-3250.

Weyburn Police Service Weekly Report The Weyburn Police Service received 62 calls for service during the period of December 21st through the 27th, with 12 charges being laid through the week. Of the 12 charges, 4 were traffic violations under the Traffic Safety Act, and 7 were under the Criminal Code of Canada for failing to attend court or comply with a condition of a court order. On December 21st, Police responded to a single vehicle collision in the City. A vehicle had s...lid on the icy road surface and struck a fence. The property damage was minor and there were no injuries. No charges resulted from this incident. Also on the 21st, Police responded to a 2-vehicle collision. Again there were no injuries and no charges were laid. Police were called to a domestic dispute between and adult male and adult female. The officers were able to mediate the matter peacefully. Vandalism to a vehicle was reported on Tuesday. The vehicle had been spray painted with graffiti while parked outside the owner’s residence. This matter is under investigation. Several individuals failed to attend court as required and were charged accordingly. On Wednesday, officers attended to another domestic dispute between an adult male and an adult female. This matter was also mediated peacefully. WPS received a report of an assault outside a residence between two adult males. Police investigated the matter and determined it was a consensual altercation and neither party wanted to pursue the matter criminally. Police responded to a disturbance between two adult males. The officers were able to mediate the matter peacefully. Released December 17th, 2020 Weyburn Police Service Media Release... Two individuals face several charges including Arson following a traffic stop on Highway 39 near Halbrite, SK, around 5pm on Wednesday December 16th. Officers of the Weyburn Police Service CTSS unit and the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle after being alerted by the Automated License Plate Reader. As a result, the female driver is facing charges of Driving without a Valid Class of License, Impaired Driving, Possession of a Controlled Substance (x2), Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public, and Failing to Comply with an Undertaking. A male passenger, found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest, also faces two charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and one charge of Failing to Comply with an Undertaking. Members of the RCMP attended to assist with the traffic stop as the vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the individuals were taken into custody and transported to the Weyburn Police Service station. Further to the traffic stop, members of the Weyburn Police Service patrol unit were able to conduct further investigation into the recent late night arson involving an occupied residential home, resulting in the same two individuals being charged with that offence while still in custody. Both subjects have been released with an upcoming court date. Weyburn Police Service Media Release for November 2nd, 2020 November 8th, 2020 The Weyburn Police Service received 81 calls for service during the period of November 2nd through the 8th. Although most calls are resolved without charges, a total of 15 charges were laid during the week including 8 under the Criminal Code of Canada, 4 under the Traffic Safety Act, and 3 under the City of Weyburn Bylaws.... November 2nd - Monday was an active day for WPS officers with several traffic complaints, lost items, and a variety of other calls. Three motorists were charged under the TSA including one driver who was involved in a collision. Officers also received a report of a dispute that resulted in one individual being warned, at the victim’s request, for uttering threats against that person. November 3rd - The traffic complaints continued into Tuesday as WPS dealt with several motorists including driving while suspended, using a communication device while driving, disobeying a bus stop sign, erratic driving, and parking. Officers also dealt with a family relations and a child welfare matter which resulted in no charges. November 4th - Wednesday carried a similar theme as officers received a complaint of a hit & run and charged another motorist for failing to obey a traffic light. Officers also conducted a wellbeing check and dealt with two domestic dispute matters that were resolved without charges. November 5th - A local organization reported the theft of an item from their property on Thursday. The matter is still under investigation but a suspect has been identified. Other calls for service on Thursday include an animal complaint and four matters involving family relations or concerns with an individual’s mental health. November 6th - On Friday, an individual with an outstanding arrest warrant was located, arrested, and dealt with accordingly. Another individual was charged with impaired driving as the result of a traffic stop just before midnight. November 7th - Saturday saw a lighter amount of calls but not less urgent. Officers attended three mental health related matters varying in nature, including aggression and the expression of self-harm. Medical attention was sought as needed and no injuries resulted. November 8th - Sunday was relatively quiet but officers did attend two more calls involving mental health. WPS Patrol and CTSS along with CSO, Sask Highways and Sask Conservation conducted a High Visibility Check Stop Friday night. Officers checked almost 500 vehicles. 3 alcohol roadside tests and 1 drug roadside test were performed. One resulted in a 60 day driver suspension and 3 day impound to a Novice 2 driver. Also issued were 3 warnings and 1 inspection ticket under the vehicle equipment regulations act. #DriveSober Stay Safe and Happy Holidays!!
