We stop at all little libraries... Found Dots Reading Nook over on Signal Hill, just a block or so from the Tommy Douglas Performing Arts Centre. Looked like a great selection so we traded one of the books that we keep in the car just for moments like this. Check this one out or go scouting for the other two in town There’s one on Staveley Crescent and McGillivray Drive ... 700 block 4th Street S #exploreweyburn

Saskatchewan's southeast is somewhat of a fisherman's dream... once the lakes and rivers freeze over, it's common in these parts to see ice shacks popping up and folks casting their line, testing their luck and seeing what they can reel in. In the Weyburn area, it's not uncommon to catch Northern Pike, Walleye or Perch - here's a few places right at home or a short drive away where you can experience this prairie past time. Nickle Lake: only five minutes east of Weyburn on... Highway #39. During the off season when the park is closed you can find access to the lake south of the park turnoff. NLRP would like to remind people to be safe, watch their surroundings, check the ice, and be respectful. They also ask that people refrain from quadding and ski-doing within the park as it can cause damage. Mainprize Regional Park - Ice fishing is a great pastime and the Rafferty Reservoir has produced numerous record catches that anglers will debate for some time to come. Approx a 45 min drive, head southeast on Hwy 39 towards Estevan, turn south at Halbrite on the 705 and follow the signs to Mainprize. Avonlea Reservoir is a popular fishing spot during both the winter and summer months. Avonlea Reservoir offers easy access and good fishing. From Weyburn its approx a 1 hr drive, NW on Hwy 39 until SK 334 (between Milestone & Wilcox - watch for signs to Avonlea) * Please follow all Saskatchewan fishing guidelines and regulations and ensure proper ice thickness and safety. Put a few of these items on your "things to do during the Christmas break (to keep the kids occupied) list: 1. Just download a copy of the map and go .... https://weyburntourism.com/river-park-sparkles/ 2. Go skating - try every outdoor rink you can find or check for availability... at the indoor rink. Weather and ice thickness depending, you may be able to skate over at River Park on the river! 3. Go for a winter walk - with so many trails in our area, you could pick a different one each day. Bundle up and enjoy the fresh air. If you're feeling extra adventurous, pack flashlights and glow sticks and head out after dark! Grab your copy of the Tatagwa Trails map and plan your adventure as a family. https://weyburntourism.com//2020/04/Tatagwa-Map-back-of-ma 4. Maybe we'll get some snow? If we do, grab your toboggan or GT racer and head for the hill ---> toboggan hill, that is! A local favourite slidey spot is also over at River Park. Got another fav tobogganing spot? Let us know, we'd love to race ya! 5. Go swimming! (Indoor swimming silly... it is winter after all) Check for public swimming times and book a time slot to have a splashing good time (and wear off some of that extra energy) 6. Try cross-country skiing or snowshoeing! (obviously this would be more fun if we get some more white stuff) The groomed ski trails can be found throughout Jubilee Park and River Park. The route is changed regularly to add variety. Snowshoes and skis/poles are available for rent at the Weyburn Leisure Centre. 7. Experience our historic Crocus Tour (again) but with your winter eyes. You simply walk and listen to the tour, or stop and play the trivia challenge game at each point of interest. Load up the kids and make it a family event there’s something for everyone to enjoy while you follow along and it’s 100% Free. Just download the Tripvia Tours app and get started. https://weyburntourism.com/crocus-walking-tour/ 8. Check out the Allie Griffin Arts Gallery/Weyburn Arts Council 12 Days of Art Scavenger hunt!
