Happy WHENsday! Today we are concluding our series "Christmas in ____" with Rana Chui from our Cantonese Team. ------------ "In Hong Kong, people are full of festive spirit to celebrate Christmas. However, there is no White Christmas as there is no snow there in Winter. One of the holiday traditions for many people and families are going to Tsimshatsui district to take photos of the Christmas lightings strung across the commercial buildings and skyscrapers while Christmas s...ongs booming from the city’s speakers. December 25 and 26 are both public holidays. Unlike Canada, all the shopping centers and restaurants do stay open for the holiday. Many restaurants will list turkey on their menus. Churches will organize some Christmas events or music concerts to invite people to join. Some groups will host Christmas carolling on the streets to attract people and distribute the gospel tracts. Families and friends like to exchange Christmas gifts and have gatherings together." ------------- We are so grateful to have gotten a glimpse into how Christmas is celebrated in different cultures around the world and to have these cultures represented in WHEN.
