Where Is The World

Well, we’re not at Sun Peaks with these guys right now...but at least we got in a couple days of skiing in the Canadian Rockies . No meals, movies, games or any of those other fun family activities...but I’ll take whatever we can get! We got fresh snow both at Lake Louise and Nakiska, and the girls got in a few runs with grandpa. I’d say a 3-generation ski day is pretty special! Now we’re safely home enjoying a quiet Christmas on our own.... #lakelouisecanada #skicanada #covidchristmas

When you spend your stay watching them build the Lake Louise ice castle and then realize at 9pm (on the last night) that they’re finished...you rush out in pajamas to see it and take some pictures!! This place is truly magical in the winter #fairmontcll Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

We’ve had a couple great days on the slopes here at Marmot Basin. The snow’s been amazing, the weather fantastic (just the perfect amount of cold ) and the hill was basically empty. Randy & I even got a couple hours in yesterday kid-free while they were in lessons. It may not be the family Christmas ski trip we imagined, but it’s a decent substitute!

The girls named this guy Yogi the yoga bear! Although he looked pretty big to us, the local bear guard told us he’s actually skinny. In the 1990’s the bears spent an average of 90 days off the ice every summer. The day we saw this bear it was day 120 since the bears had been off the ice. That’s a big change in a few short decades. It’s easy to ignore the melting polar ice caps and the climate change in the north. But it’s definitely happening, and seeing it in person it made it very real. #whereistheworld #churchillmanitoba #travelcanada

Family photo on the tundra! If you look really closely above Kacela’s head you’ll see our friend on the shores of Hudson Bay!! There’s NO way we would’ve got out of the vehicle here...but there was a team from Polar Bear International also parked, with their bear guard.... Even then I felt a bit uncomfortable outside of the safety of the vehicle...but it was pretty cool to be that close to a polar bear in the wild (Don’t worry, I’ve got lots more Churchill pics coming!!!) #whereistheworld #churchillmanitoba #polarbearlove #polarbearsinternational

Our first family plane ride in 7.5mo!! The girls were pretty excited to get on a plane again. Both our flights were quite empty and Randy’s the only one who complained about wearing a mask We’re excited to explore a bit more of our big amazing country and tick something off my bucket list!... #whereistheworld #familytravels #travelcanada #covidtravel
