It is with disappointment that the Board of the Whitecourt Curling Club has voted to officially end the 2020-2021 season. The ongoing restrictions will take us into March or beyond, so it is not feasible for us to continue maintaining the ice facility at this time. A further detailed email message will be sent out to members in the near future. Our 50/50 is still ongoing and you may contact Elaine Gunderson at 778-3213 to make arrangements to purchase tickets, or return sold... books. A minimum of $2000 is guaranteed! The draw date is set for Saturday, March 27 at the Curling Club Lounge. Our lounge will be open to Members some weekend evenings to watch scheduled Curling events on TV. Covid restrictions and protocols are still in place. Our first opening is Friday, February 19 at 5:30 pm. The Christmas decorations are still up and the Curling broadcast starts at 6:30. Come on up and check out the drink specials and the festive decor! Further lounge openings will be posted on our page as they are planned. Stay healthy everyone.
As per the update from the Town below, we will be closed until December 15 regardless of our status. We will post updates as they become available. Stay healthy everyone.
Whitecourt is now listed as a community with enhanced measures - this means that we will not be able to curl until we are taken off this list. The Club is closed effective immediately. We will continue to monitor the situation and post updates as they become available.
As far as we can interpret we are not affected by the new protocols coming into place November 27 regarding indoor sport/recreation or restaurants/bars as they are targeted to Enhanced Measures communities - which Whitecourt is not. We will continue with league curling but please continue to follow the established protocols and mandatory masking. We will provide any updates to the situation as they are implemented.
Please note that although Whitecourt is presently under Enhanced measures (purple zone) we are NOT mandated to stop our team sports. We have confirmed this information so the Club will continue with regular league play at this time - with members continuing to follow the protocols already in place. However - Our lounge is subject to the new directive to have last call at 10 and closed by 11. This will affect any teams with a 9 pm draw as they will not have bar service after 10 pm. Thank you to our members for doing their part as we work our way through this. Please feel free to message or email us if you have questions or concerns.
