We are so happy to share that the landing at the Port Credit Lighthouse will now be named "The Queen Bea Lookout" after our dedicated leader and General Manager... Beatrice Moreira-Laidlow. Beatrice has dedicated over 20 years to the Port Credit BIA and community. Today our Ward 1 Councillor @daskoward1 brought the motion forward and the Council voted unanimously in favor. Thank you Bea for all that you do! Congratulations! . #portcreditbia #portcredit #communityinvolvement #leadership #passion #morethanajob See more

Repost from @stepsinitiative --------------- As part of iheART Main Street Art Challenge, @PortCreditBIA commissioned three @thepatchproject artists @mcclusk, ...@marco_bertuzzo and @lapirie to paint their works on 12 benches! Erin’s series reflects natural scenes that are connected to local ecology. She is interested in the composition of patterns, and wanted to take motifs prevalent in her artwork to create bright and colourful designs on the benches. Lauren’s series points to the inherent interconnectedness between humans and our shared environment. Influenced by Port Credit’s geography. two of the benches are inspired by our relationship to land, while the other two reference our relationship to water. The desire for human connection and physical touch intertwine with the desire for physical and spiritual connection to the earth. Marco’s series alludes to the symbolism of the number four - whether it be the four seasons, the four elements, the four humours, or the four cardinal directions. In reality there is no message, just a network of jumbled meaning. But it is within the process of trying to find the meaning, that true engagement with this work occurs. #stepsinitiative #mainstreetartchallenge #RBCEmergingArtists #stepsimpact #streetart #keepmakingart #publicart #placemaking #citybuilding #installationart #canadianartists #artistsofinstagram #design #illustration #torontoillustration #arttoronto #artcanada #explorecanada #canadahelps #erinmccluskey #marcobertuzzo #laurenpirie #peelregion #mississauga #saugaculture #portcredit
