By some small miracle we have pickling cucumbers at the market today! Huge harvests this week mean that dill and bread and butter sizes are available. At the Thunder Bay Country Market 3:30-6:30.
Whitefish Valley Vegetables and Pitch Creek Farm are at the Thunder Bay Country Market today. Lots and lots of delicious produce today!
I begged, bartered and bought some food at the Thunder Bay Country Market today. Eggs from Tarrymore Farms, Red pepper dip, Hummus and pita chips from The Sapling and Pinetree catering, heirloom tomatoes and eggplant from Pitch Creek Farm, and from Veg.e.tate mixed salad greens and Tuscan kale. Awesome food and good people.
The Thunder Bay Country Market is open on Wednesday’s again! See us there today 3:30-6:30.
Due to unforeseen circumstances Whitefish Valley Vegetables will not be returning to the Thunder Bay Country Market until August 15th, a week later than planned. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. On the bright side harvests have been good this year, and we should be returning with potatoes, carrots, beets, garlic, onions, pickling cucumbers and green peppers.
Pickling cucumbers are back! Please send me your orders for this year, first harvest is available tomorrow. $3/lb. Over 30 lb is $2.50/lb. Delivery can be arranged for larger orders, harvests happen every other day weather dependant. Garlic, dill and horseradish are also available.
Mark Jantunen here with an update from the farm: 2020 is shaping up to be the best season ever! All the bed preparation is done for the year so that means compost is spread, irrigation is in place and beds are cultivated ready for planting. While the polar vortex has set the season back by a week this is still by far the earliest in the season that ive had the whole garden is ready to plant. While crops like carrots, beets, cabbage and garlic will be the same varieties as... previous years, I’ve changed to a different seed potato supplier. This means the older varieties are out and modern European-bred varieties are in, bringing (hopefully) earlier and more dependable yields of gourmet spuds. It also means that customer-favourite varieties such as French fingerling type and German butterball type varieties will be available up to 2 months earlier. Getting the vegetables to you will be different this year so look for Whitefish Valley Vegetables products available through Superior Seasons and the Thunder Bay Country Market website starting in early July. I’m also teaming up with Pitch Creek Farm to do a collaborative CSA program. While the program is currently sold out we are working to expand the program to serve as many people as possible. Stay tuned for more details within the week! See more
Pitch Creek Farm and Whitefish Valley Vegetables are teaming up this year to provide a multi-farm CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). Professional farmers Brandon, Greg and Mark select the best from their farms each week for your table! All produce is grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers and is always GMO free. CSA is a great way to support a local farm and have a guaranteed supply of fresh local vegetables all summer and fall. Payments are made in advance an...Continue reading
