It may not be in person, but I'm happy we are still able to train together!
When your conversation moves from Karate to UFC, the next thing you know, you are in the basement, gloves on, sparring, and working new techniques. :) It was awesome having the kids home for the Holidays! Here is a video of Kurtis and I setting up a D’Arce choke in a tegumi flow drill.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from our family to yours!
Congratulations to this father & son team for earning their first belts! Everything is more fun with family. #karatefamily
More new belts from the last grading. Once again, congratulations to all!
Congratulations Jason on earning your yellow belt! It is challenging for adults to study karate. There are a million excuses not to train, and most of them are perfectly valid. Our families come first, jobs are a priority, and these were truths before COVID struck. Now we are aggressively told to stay at home. The truth is is you want something you have to make time for it, and put in the work. Jason, you preserved through the online karate sessions, and have continued to forge ahead with our socially-distant covid-minded classes. Congratulations on a strong grading!
Congratulations ladies on a strong grading!!!
If you want to accelerate your karate learning: keep a journal. If you want to retain more of what you read: write about it. I finished reading Hanshi Legacy's book a bit ago. There is plenty of content here that I not only wish to retain, but plan to incorporate into my training. Here is my summary: https://www.whiteheronmartialarts.com/post/elite-fighter
I have just started into Hanshi Legacy's new book, and already I am loving it. There is content here for beginners and veteran martial artists alike. Thank-you Sensei!
I love this book because of how it makes me think about my own training. To read my ramblings on the book: https://www.whiteheronmartialarts.com//zen-in-the-art-of-a
Lightsabers in the dojo?!?! Only if it’s the last class before a long weekend. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Classes resume on Tuesday.
