Don't be an hour late for tonight's games!* The Yukon is staying on Pacific Daylight Time; that is the same as the time in Calgary and Edmonton (Mountain Standard Time) . If you're unsure which clock is correct, check this site: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/... * Microsoft has set some local computer clocks back an hour, incorrectly. Trust those clocks you yourself control, such as your bedroom or microwave.
Getting near the end of the outdoor season, just after the sun set at 7:50 on Sept. 24. Maybe one or two more games?
Registration for the 2020-21 indoor season filled up very quickly. If you would like to be put on a waiting list, please send an email to the league's address: [email protected].
Hurray! INDOOR SEASON COMING SOON The league executive met on Aug. 26 to plan an indoor season once the Yukon government issued Phase III Covid-19 guidelines for the resumption of contact sports. That was done on Aug. 27. The Canada Games Centre (CGC) staff are now working to apply those rules to their operations, aiming to have them ready around Sept. 8.... We are planning for a ‘mini-league’ of only four teams of 15 to 16 players, to commence play in October. Sixty to 65 people is the maximum that will be permitted. The CGC may impose a lower maximum in the fieldhouse; we are talking with them. Once the CGC’s rules are finalized, we will proceed with registration later in September. Hope to see you back on the pitch this winter! Stay tuned. You can read more on the government website, https://yukon.ca//industry-operating-guidel/contact-sports and in this Whitehorse Star article https://www.whitehorsestar.com//guidelines-for-the-return-
Looks like a perfect sunny evening for a friendly soccer scrimmage 7:30 to 9:00 at Vanier. Don't forget your sunglasses!
Thirteeen happy players after the July 9 game, and a small gathering in the parking lot to nibble on strawberries. (Thanks for the photos, Mark Peschke.) The weather forecast looks good for tomorrow: Vanier from 7:30 to 9:00!
NO INDOOR SOCCER GAMES, BUT FOOD BANK SCORES The league had to cancel each team's last six games from mid-March to mid-April due to Covid-19. Players from the league donated pro-rated registration refunds to the Whitehorse Food Bank. A cheque for $1,975 was presented on Friday, June 26, to operations manager Michael Massie (centre) by the league's treasurer, Vaughan Johnstone, and his son, Corvus. That amount will cover more than a week of the food bank's expenses.
Looks like a great night for kicking a ball around sunny and warm with dry fields at Vanier school. There's four hours of sunshine left this evening!
Photo of last Thursday's "Kick the ball around" at Vanier School, published in today's Whitehorse Star on page 19.. Eight people showed up last week and 14 this past Monday. https://www.whitehorsestar.com/Sports/kicking-up-their-heels Action continues each Monday and Thursday, starting at 7:30. We can spread out over both fields, and be sure to maintain physical distancing from other players.... There are no teams, no official jerseys, and no cost. Anyone under about 14 should be with an older family member.
The first game of the second half of the indoor season is TONIGHT, for everyone. Team lists and the new schedule can be found at https://whitehorsereccoedsoccer.ca/downloads.php

We entered a team in this weekend's Dustball softball tournament, as part of the league's 20th anniversary celebration. It was a fun event and we played fairly well, but managed to be eliminated after losing four games. Here we are at our last game, on one of the fields opposite Robert Service Campground early on a smoky, humid Saturday morning.
Check out the links below for the team rosters and schedule for our outdoor season. First game is tomorrow night! http://whitehorsereccoedsoccer.ca//2019-outdoor-team-list. http://whitehorsereccoedsoccer.ca//2019-outdoorschedule.pdf
