It’s a snowy Family Day here at Wholearth Farmstudio. Join us for some Downtime in the barnyard with our feathered friends. While drake prepares for his closeup, get cozy and invite your friends to come have a gander at a giant goose. Please leave any questions for Montana in the comments and we’ll ask her live.

Lewis shows off his clean clipped toes during senior spa day. After a warm sudsy bath and brush, he’s napping on a heating pad catchin’ a few sun rays, inhaling catnip aroma. Someone once commented on the possibility of killing a senior cat by giving it a heart attack as they fought off their well meaning caregiver. Been terrified of thoroughly bathing this guy for the last few years but I needn’t have been. It was a pleasure, feline bliss - he loves it more every time now. #20years

Location: Hastings, Ontario Saiorse Honey is looking for greener pastures. She was born here (we own her mother Ella) and is a calm, shorter, compact olde-style chunk of a Bay Percheron draft mare. She is impressively gorgeouswide chested, thick necked, strong shoulders like her sire Jake, and gentle. Measures 15.1 hands, which makes her easy to work with as well. Had wanted to train and work her here, but life had other plans and wasn't able to invest the time to train.... We posted Honey last year and changed our minds. We posted early this year then decided to keep her again, but health says find her next great home. She is very comfortable, quiet and trusting, spent much time with her and her sisters and done some ground work in preparation for training such as having them, carrying weighted bags on back, dragging snakey long garden hoses and tree branches around and they are not fussed by it at all. Loud noises fine, jumping up and down, flapping tarps and the like do not spook her. Purebred old style compact and low Bay Percheron but NO Registration Papers. You will see in the photos there is a grey horse with a charcoal grey filly at her side. That is Ella as a foal and her 14-year-old mother who had already turned grey. Ella is Honey's dam, the grey is her grand dam. Honey has a calm disposition, comes when called, leads well, knows commands "stop", "walk" when leading, and "lift" when picking up her feet. Her routine is to come into barnyard with option of going into barn for shelter every night, she is comfortable staying in or out. Grows a furry shaggy winter coat. She is easy going, no quirks or vices. Comes when called to the barnyard for the night. Honey is not yet broken to drive, ride or pull but she leads, is calm, well handled and trusts, training should go smoothly. She's ready to start, curious and engaged. Please PM if you are seriously interested in this great powerhouse of a gorgeuous girl, send number and note about your plans for her. She'd also be wonderful brood mare and is an excellent mama. #mushyum Walk in the woods - it’s puff magic season! Best enjoy eating and dehydrating puffballs the day you pick them - fresh and snow white. ... These dried steak like slabs will make an amazing mushroom and kale lasagne come January. Next batch going in include cubes for wintry mushroom soup. Mason jars are dehydrated Oyster mushrooms. They turn fast into soft spore explosions. If you cut one open and it’s already hinting at green or yellow, take it back into the woods or a shady damp place where you would like to harvest puffball mushrooms next year.

Since Roley, the last of our long line of Great Pyrenees guardian dogs died last year, we’ve had crows, fox and coyotes visiting the barnyard buffet to dine on our poultry. The Mama Muscovies just hatched out close to 30 ducklings, proud dad is Nick Drake. They’re under heavy security till they grow big enough to wander safely... And now Levi’s got a new gig! :-)

SHOW QUALITY EMBDEN GANDER Handsome, stylish, heart throb Ryan Gosling is single and looking for love. Ryan is the only Embden in a flock of Giant Exhibition Dewlap Toulouse. He's seeking a life with his own kind. (Due to an incubator egg mix up at the breeders last year, I received an Embden gosling back as well as my Toulouse.) ... Hatched April 2019, coming up to one year old. Ryan's a good guy, hand-raised and approachable, likes to squat nearby and hang out when you are outside, enjoys occasional head scratches and swimming in the pond with humans and Anser Anser alike. Unlike some hand-reared imprinted waterfowl he DOES know he's a goose and prefers feathered company. Promise he won't hang out on your doorstep asking to come in. Photos: He is the single shown in all photos. The couple pictured are Ryan Goslings's parents the breeder just sold pair for 300. They won First in their class at the the largest show in Canada, 2019 Ontario Poultry Breeder's show in Grassie, Niagara Falls, and Reserve Champion at a local fair. Located in Hastings, Trent Hills. He is 50 for a quick sale as we need room to set up Toulouse breeding. PM if you'd like to meet him, buy him, or for his autograph.

Rainfall, full wolf moon exhale, sage smudging, release, super toasty cookstove 500 degrees!! . Thankful to be tired after working outside in the balmy January rain. Grateful to live. Thankful for gifts like warmth. Remember that thing you were going to do? You owe it to yourself to do it - this is the year. What helps you feel content?
