Yoga lovers...we have our Dr. Murphy doing one of your favorite poses here! Cobra pose is a great stretch for strengthening the spine and stimulating the abdominal muscles and organs. How to do: Lay flat on your stomach. Then lift your upper body and rest on your elbows, leaving your pelvis on the ground. Your low back should be arched backwards. Hold 30 seconds and repeat for 2-3 sets. Progress to doing it on your hands rather than elbows once possible. There should be minimal to no pain.

Re-Opening Announcement Tuesday, May 19th! After the Provincial Governments Phase Two announcement, our team has been working hard to develop new protocols and policies to ensure that when you have an appointment with us, you will be provided with a safe, professional, and welcoming environment. We are thrilled to announce that the centre will be re-opening on Tuesday, May 19th. Although we intend to have our full list of services available to you as soon as possible, som...e practitioners may, for personal reasons, decide not to return to in-office work until a later date. As a result, we will contact you directly if your appointment will be need to be rescheduled after the 19th. As we move into this next phase, we ask that you be patient with us over the coming weeks, as we take the responsibility of keeping you safe and maintaining the strict guidelines as set out by the Provincial Government and WorkSafe BC very seriously. In order to ensure that these guidelines are met, we will require you to fill out our COVID-19 questionnaire and consent form before each treatment. One will be provided to you upon arrival at the centre. Your practitioner may also be required to contact you before your appointment as per the requirements set out by their Associations. Also, to maintain social distancing, we ask that you do not bring additional guests with you to your appointment. Our front desk will be available Saturday, May 16th from 9:00-2:00 p.m. to answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to contact us at 604-479-0777 during those office hours. For all you runners, make sure you are doing the quad stretch before you hit the pavement! It will help to increase flexibility and improve performance. Here is our Chiropractor, Dr. Murphy demonstrating. Instructions: Grab you ankle from behind. Try to point your knee at the ground as best you can while standing tall. Hold 30 seconds. Do 2 sets. There should be minimal or no pain.

Here is our Chiropractor, Dr. Murphy, showing you how to complete the windshield wiper exercise. This exercise is helpful in restoring normal range of motion and motor control to the hip joint. It also develops lower abdominal strength to stabilize the pelvis during leg movements. How to complete the windshield wiper exercise: Lay on a flat surface wit...h knees bent and feet flat on the ground. Let your knees fall side to side in a pain free range of motion at an easy pace. There should be no pain and it should be controlled. If you experience pain, try to go less broad with the range of motion. If you cannot do this without pain; avoid for now. Great post by Brene Brown, professor, author and motivational speaker, on her views surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic and how we should choose to move forward collectively, working together, rather than on our own. Surviving this crisis will take a shift in mindset, and thats tougher than we think - especially when were afraid. Fear and anxiety can drive us to become very self-focused. This global pandemic is a real case of getting sick together or staying well toge...ther. Our choices affect everyone around us. There is no such thing as individual risk or individual wellness. This is the ultimate reminder that we are inextricably connected to each other. Turning away from collective action right now - as tempting as it is - will only generate more pain. Owning and embracing our global interconnectedness (from a safe distance) and thinking about others as we make choices is, ironically, our only path to safety for ourselves and the people we love. We can all get really **** really fast when were afraid. I get it. Im using deep breaths along with my personal mantra: Try to be scared without being scary. Feel free to borrow both - they can help. Its also really normal for everyone to be on our nerves: The people who arent following the rules, the 10-second hand washers, etc. I get that too. TRUST ME. Intermittent fasting has definitely had its share of the limelight lately in terms of favorite diet practices. However, everyone seems to adopt different principles with how they follow it. My suggestion is to stick to the 16:8 fasting period as the research is showing that anything above a 16 hour fast isnt really making a difference in your overall health.
