Meet the Makers - Not Your Babas Not Your Babas is proud to grow our own produce or use other local products to create Ukrainian food and Jams/Jellies. We have learned the techniques from many Babas to make sure we get the recipes right. Now we listened but not 100% because we got a little creative putting bacon in perogies, locally grown Grueger Mushrooms also find their spot stuffed in, we even make our own salsa with local tomatoes for our Nacho Babas Perogies. We have Perogies, Cabbage Rolls, Nalysynka, Perishke and Beet Rolls and borscht on a seasonal basis.

Meet the Makers - Sew Kozy I've always had a passion for sewing as I find it extremely therapeutic. I started Sew Kozy in 2014 specializing in hot & cold therapy bags and then branching off to baby & toddler nests. Recently I have added Bowl Buddies, Bath Boards & Blanket Ladders. Thinking back I never imagined that it would snowball like this. Currently you can find my products in 5 locally owned shops. Give @sewkozyalberta a follow to see if they are in a store near you.

Meet the Makers - Boocha Boocha was born out of the idea that kombucha could be fun. Whether you are a yoga guru, office dweller, student or hockey parent we believe everyone can reap the health benefits of kombucha. So we ran with simple flavours and simple ingredients that taste great to any palette, from regular kombucha drinkers to Boocha first-timers. We want Boocha to be your go-to beverage for a pick me up, thirst quencher, soda replacer or cocktail mixer. Boocha start...ed in 2017 when three longtime friends pooled their eclectic skills to launch YEG’s first kombucha at the Edmonton Downtown Farmers Market. Our DIY roots remain strong and we are still 100% owner-operated with every bottle being filled, capped and labelled by hand. The same people who are manning the Boocha booth or delivering your Boocha each had a part in handcrafting the beverage inside our iconic stubby bottles. See more

Meet the Maker - Sew Little Hi, my name is Faaria (rhymes with Maria), and I am one half of Sew Little. My mother in law - Donna, and I started our little business back in September 2016. I brought her a pattern and fabric from the store and asked her to sew booties for my big footed 9 month old! Some mom friends saw, and asked to place orders and the rest is history! Since then we have evolved into making booties and slippers for every size in the family, newborn up to men...s size 12! We also make winter and summer hats, and bibs as well We each played to our strengths in our partnership, I like to talk to people and Donna likes to sew. When you message the business, place an order for pickup or ship or visit the website, that's all me. The quality products your recieve, that's Donna's skills. Check out our website full of stock items at sewlittle.myshopify.com and for custom orders you can message me on Facebook

Meet the Makers - Spun Sugar Cotton Candy Spun Sugar was created in a spin off from the a chocolate covered bacon venture. I found bacon flavoured sugar to make cotton candy, which turned into making organic cotton candy......then the add ons of caramel and candy apples, chocolate dipped pretzels, chocolate dipped Oreos and other goodies. All these goodies and now ice cream turned into a one stop pit stop at the Downtown farmers market in the old Army and Navy building.

Meet the Makers - Caught In The Cookie Jar For many years I was a stay home mom and one of my favorite things to do was bake for my family. I always found myself making cookies more than anything else, even as fancy cakes and cupcakes were huge fads I didn’t enjoy making them. It was always cookies that I loved making. The different combinations of flavors had endless possibilities! I guess you could say I was Caught in the Cookie Jar! I decided to try selling my cookies a...t the local farmers market in 2014 and they were a hit so I started selling at a few more markets. Eventually I decided to take the leap in 2016 and make cookies my full time gig. We now have a brick and mortar shop in Fort Saskatchewan and still sell our cookies at farmers markets. We have added brownies and edible cookie to our line in 2019 and can’t wait to share even more tasty treats in the future. See more

Meet the Makers - Paddy Bakes Bread Paddy Bakes began with baker Patrick Cunningham and his wife Chaimae. Just as the young couple had graduated from NAIT for entrepreneurship and management, the pandemic hit Edmonton. The lockdown to follow left Patrick with a lot of time at home which he used to polish his bread making skills. Patrick had completed his baking certificate at NAIT several years earlier and had worked at Duchess Bake Shop before returning to school to learn ho...w to start his own business. Owning a bread business however, had never been the plan. Word spread to a handful of neighbors that Patrick was making sourdough bread to pass the time. One neighbor offered to buy a loaf. Soon after he offered to buy a loaf every week. And soon after that nearly a dozen friends and neighbors did the same. This is how Paddy Bakes was unintentionally born. Fast forward seven months, and the two partners of Paddy Bakes have several popular bread products, including their staple sourdough loaf, rye bread, and a seasonal chocolate bread loaf. They have also broken into the Edmonton Market scene where they had a successful summer season at the 124th Street Grand Market; selling out every market day.
