Every year around this time I pop downtown Wiarton and do my Christmas shopping. I hit Bennett’s Five to One Dollar store for some stocking stuffers, The Berfor...d Street Bookstore and Bazaar to stock up on amazing book finds, Josie’s so Tyler has some clean, nice clothes and all the other amazing shops that you see the same familiar faces in year after year. Everyone is trying their best to catch up from a difficult year with construction blocking the Main Street all summer and businesses have had to adapt to stay alive. The Green Door is making an amazing go at their market place where you can browse some locally made wears then grab an easy lunch with hot soup, local beer and a delicious sandwich. I strongly believe in keeping money in communities, whether that be someone else’s or your own, and allowing small business owners to live their dreams. We don’t need amazon, we don’t need so many things. Shop small this season, I know I’ve ranted about this before but if you are going to shop a downtown try Wiarton, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Well I don't know where the month has gone but here we are almost in November. With next week being rifle season for deer anyone wanting to get pepperettes made... will need to have their wild game meat in by this Saturday. After that we won't be making the little pepperettes again until February. We will still be making all of the other types of sausage though. In another note keep your eye open for the Shriners cakes.
