And the tradition continues, even in this time of pandemic restrictions! On December 6, 2020 Santa visited Wiarton to the enthusiastic response of socially distanced children and adults alike! Once again, Wiarton Rotary sponsored the Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound's Santa Float visit. Word on the street has it that Santa really liked this year's ride!

We're BACK!! Wine Survivor was a HUGE success and by popular demand we are back with Wine Survivor 2. Tickets go on sale TODAY! Remember, the last time we sold out in days!! The draws will be the first week in February. In attempt to meet anticipated ticket demand there will be 300 tickets available for Wine Survivor 2. potentially 60 teams of 5 in play. We have increased the total value of prizes by 50 % to $2,500 worth of wine, and we will increase the number of winni...ng teams from 4 to 6. The only thing that stays the same is the ticket price of $30. Growing up on the Bruce Peninsula, this Rotarian has seen a lot of change over the course of his time in the community. For those of us "newbies" to the area, he is a wealth of knowledge! Love the stories and the history of the Club's contributions!

It's almost time. The draws for the December Wine Survivor will take place next week.....Dec. 7 - Dec. 11. Everyone can watch the draws here on Facebook Live at 8pm each evening. Results of each draw will be posted on our webpage wiartonrotary.org and on our Facebook page. Rotarians will have tickets for the February Wine Survivor draw available for purchase on Dec 12th on a first come-first served basis. Even with a very busy schedule, Rotarian Richard always seems to find the time to help support the Club's initiatives or those of the community. The Club has benefited greatly from his return to Rotary!

Christi Ronholm, Bruce Peninsula Assocuiation for Community Living accepts a donation from Kathy Christie of the Rotary Club of Wiarton. This donation assists a Mental Health and Wellness program for those in Supported Independent Living. Ms Ronholm stated that In these pandemic times it is important to ensure that those living alone remain connected to others and live the best lives possible.

Wiarton Rotarian Ashley Gunn dropped by to present a $1000 cheque to The Women’s Centre Grey Bruce Inc. Executive Director, Heather Sheldrick thanked the Club for supporting women and kids fleeing abuse.

Village Fair's "Mr. Bingo" is a passionate Rotarian whose blood truly flows Rotary! Whether here at home on the Bruce Peninsula or while wintering in Florida, his thoughts are constantly focused on how Rotary can make a difference in the world.

The Rotary Club of Wiarton supports Bruce Peninsula Hospice. Recently Rotarian Jackie Drawbell presented a cheque to Nancy Forgrave, Manager Volunteer Services, Bruce Peninsula Hospice and a Friend of Wiarton Rotary. These funds will support the organization of a Virtual Bereavement Support Group for people in the community who are grieving via Zoom. Bruce Peninsula Hospice continues to support people in the community, virtually, by phone and with outdoor visits.

Affectionately known as "Magic Mike" around the Club, you likely know this Rotarian as the "Walmart Greeter" at Wiarton Rotary's Maple Magic event! As you exit the wagons, "Magic Mike" provides you with all of the info needed for an enjoyable visit.

Mike moved to WIarton less than 15 years ago but he quickly established himself as a strong community member and supporter. He believes strongly in creating partnerships and he has been instrumental in connecting our Rotary Club with other service organizations and businesses to complete major projects in the area including the expansion of the Food Bank. He gives much of his time to Rotary and freely shares his knowledge and skills. THANKS Mike!

Mal's record as a volunteer is long, not only as a Rotarian but as a member of the Bruce Trail Conservancy. He has provided leadership at many levels & on numerous projects. His love for the environment & his community are greatly appreciated.
