TEST FIRE OF THE FORGE
This is a special day for Wicked Works, and I am inspired to create a symbolic item, in honor of our heroes. I will present a shield to the Legion, one year from today.
Refractory poured (front view). It's not packed tightly enough at the rear (that sounded bad), so I'm gonna cut the back end of the forge body off and fill it in. So far, it contains about 30kg of sand and plaster, plus the 18 firebricks.
This is the fire brick lining I've mounted with 4.5" carriage bolts. Next, I will back these bolts off and pour Plaster of Paris and sand mixture in between the bricks and the steel lining of the forge body. This will ensure it all holds together while the plaster sets.
Ok, so This Plus This Equals Refractory for my forge. I drilled holes into $120 of fire bricks, and I plan to mount those with carriage bolts, after slapping on some Plaster of Paris and sand mixture, to bond the bricks together. The whole insulative lining of the refractory should be a minimum 3" thick inside this vessel, including the bricks, which shall surround the circumference. This is a unique build idea I had.
