As soon as I saw this gun at the 2020 shot show I had to have it ! This is the new design of an old classic the Winchester model 101. The Winchester 101 is the first gun I had when I was as a kid ! 40 years ago when I was 7 I remember taking this gun apart to clean it for my dad after every one of his hunts and I dreamed of the day I could hunt with it! When I turned 12 my dad gave me the old gun and that’s when my waterfowl adventure started. I remember that fall my dad gav...e me a shot bag full of magnum 2 3/4 loads he loaded and told me to go to the neighbour’s wild rice dike to see if I could find some ducks! I can still see that hunt in my head years later, I was with my 2 cousins and we saw nothing. So I decided to show off and take a shot, so I did ! Soon after I did that the wild rice came alive with hundreds upon hundreds of mallards!! Let’s just say I came back with no shells, a few fists full of mallards and a black and blue shoulder. The look on my dads face dropped when I walked up the stairs, put the gun and all the ducks on the table and said my shoulder really really hurts right now ... lol Browning and Winchester has always been a huge part of my life growing up hunting and I’m super proud to be working with such a great company.

Waterfowl Hunting History Lesson November 11, 2020 marks the 80th anniversary of the Armistice Day Blizzard in North America. Hunters on the Upper Mississippi River in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois headed out in droves taking advantage of perfect fowling conditions, but things just got worse and worse. ... Temperatures went from +55F to -55F and a white out ensued. Many hunters did not make it home that night. The bodies of more than 50 duck hunters, stranded on rivers, lakes and wetlands, dying from drowning and exposure were found the following day. Artist Michael Sieve captured the storm in his painting "Armistice Day Blizzard ". Rest easy brothers and enjoy the big duck pond in the sky. -Jonathan Braun
