ACBL has rolled out a new offering in collaboration with Bridgebase, teaching games, where 6-10 boards of pre-loaded hands are presented with breaks between rounds to discuss the hands. Partial Masterpoints are awarded. After a successful focus group, I ran my first quiz last week using 10 hands from Chapter #1 of What Does Partner Have? workbook which I am using for free lessons. The game is a virtual game run by Wild Rose / Another Mann Bridge Clubs on Bridgebase. Clo...se to game start players without partners were still milling in the Lobby, hesitant to register at the partnership desk and hesitant to invite someone from the partnership desk and hesitant to invite a stranger. Bridgebase cancelled the game with just two tables at game start, not enough to run a game. From that I learnt that if the game could be switched from a pairs to a singles game registration would be easier without the prior pairing-up of players. BBO will pair up registered players at the table at each round. To that end, I have an inquiry into ACBL of that possibility. BBO has individual games running all the time, maybe the ACBL virtual games could too. I have also learnt of other features that are currently in design that would be useful for the game. I guess I am too soon out of the gate with this new ACBL virtual game offering While waiting for the rollout of new features, I have several sources of quiz material and hands ready to be formatted into quizzes. Another Mann / Wild Rose have partnered to offer another 299er virtual game on Bridgebase.com/v3 Tuesday mornings at 9:30 MDT. Guests are welcome!

The Wild Rose BC and Another Mann BC have partnered to offer an open, and, 299er game Thursdays at noon on BBO. Thanks to Crystal Mann for teaching me to lead a virtual game. If you are not a member of either of these Clubs in Calgary, but would like to play online then message me with your BBO username to be registered for this virtual club. The Calgary Duplicate Bridge Association, ACBL Unit 390, has lots of information on getting started at BBO, at acblunit390.org... Need info on the Thursday, Open or 299er game? Leave a message.
