Revelstoke lines the banks of the meandering Columbia River. Although hard to spot, two other river flow into the Columbia at this point. To the north the Jordan and to the south the Illecillewaet.
"You must imagine your lake put in Agitation by a strong Wind, and frozen all at once." William Windham describes Chamonix's Mer de Grace in 1741. This became a universal description for glaciers.
Our guide training always helps to start the season off in high spirits. Education is most effective when you are having fun, and what better way to have fun than bringing Autumn along to offer a helping paw.
Many of our most cherished memories come from time spent in the woods with friends and families. These are often the moments we can slow down, listen to nature and one another.
There may be snow on the ground, but our chefs need to keep their backcountry cooking on point! Head cook Yo always has his trusty Dragonfly stoves on hand to keep bellies warm and full! #wintercamping #wintercooking
A huge shot out to all our staff! We are a big crazy family from across the globe with a diverse skill set. Most of all, we band together and work hard. No one is ever found lying down on the job... #dreamteam
Sunset or Sunrise? The special times that bookend our days last for a fleeting moment but leave a lasting impression.
Like Alexandria Rapid 2020 has been a bumpy ride, and just like in the raft, it is working together as a team that keeps us heading down river with big smiles on our faces!
Being professionals, we have to trust the gear we use. This test is called drone vs tree, best performed on dry land. All in all, pretty impressed. The drone performed a Top Gun level maneuver while maintaining altitude.
As you descend into the valley, it is extraordinary to see the big picture, the river cutting through the landscape to the mountains in the distance. Soon you will be on the river seeing the force of nature and how it created what we see here. #grandecache #travelalberta #rafting
Anyone else wishing summer could have stayed for a little longer? Water gun fights in winter just aren't quite as appealing.
In need of some daily inspiration? Look no further than our very own, Annie! It takes years of hard work to perfect that look!
Freeman and Hywel, checking out the view from up high. These two spent some time on the road late this summer filming some exciting projects. We look forward to releasing these videos in the spring after some long hours in the editing room.
An early October storm coated the upper slopes of Mt Begbie. The excitement in Revelstoke as always snowballed for the encroaching winter. Dreams of powder turns will be a reality soon enough! Who's coming back to Revelstoke this winter?
The average person spends over 30minutes per day scrolling Facebook. You are probably doing it right now. What we recommend is to stop and spend the next 22 minutes watching this outstanding award-winning movie about the late conservationist Martin Litton. #whitewater #dories #oars @OARS.rafting
Happy Halloween, everyone! A time to let those creative juices flow, always excited to see what costumes people come up with, so if you wish to share any in the comments below, please do. P.S. I have a feeling our Guide Chris may haunt me for this picture. #halloween #spookyrafting #trickortreat
Oh, that chilling in the sun feeling! Grinning ear to ear is how all our staff feel after a day on the river!
As we begin the winter hibernation, we will be looking back at a great summer with all our guests. Here's a sunny day on the Illy in Revelstoke, beautiful smiling faces and Yo's long locks in full force. We would love to hear about all your summer adventures from exploring local this summer, so tell us all about them below.
As the seasons' transition, we often have the opportunity to take a breath. To lie back, look to the sky and be in that one moment away from the rush of day to day life. Finding a way to unplug is essential for all of us. Have you found yours?

Our multi-talented team toured Raft companies of Alberta this year to begin creating a new exciting marketing campaign. As you can see, they stretched their creative talents to the very limits. Thanks to Chinook Rafting for taking us on the river this day! #raftalberta #tourismalberta #RaftRaps #Proaoa #gorafting
A huge thank you to the James Gang for their soul-stirring songs. This intimate performance on the beach beneath the Sulphur Gates was an exceptional and unique occasion. Travel Alberta @CanadaKeepExploring Aseniwuche Winewak Nation #JamesGang #wildblueyonder #waterwaysandwildfoods #grandecache

Here are some tips on staying comfortable while winter camping! When purchasing down items, it is essential to consider the fill power. Fill power is represented in a number between 300 and 900. The higher numbers are the warmest, lightest, and most compressible down.
In celebration of Small Business Week, Travel Alberta created this wonderful video, and one of our owners is featured in it! https://youtu.be/SBSEEXFPm7U
