WILD CHILD IDEA: Take a Sensory Walk When we are overstimulated, it becomes difficult to feel any one thing at all. A sensory walk is a wonderful way to get back in the body. You can start by sitting with your hands directly placed on the earth and taking three breaths. Then by walking together, try to feel, smell and physically interact with whatever draws you. By doing this you are essentially telling your nervous systems, you're here, you're safe.

Every WILD CHILD adventure looks a little different. Today one friend took a stroll and explored the dried plants along the pathway. Another found some cut down logs and sawdust, created an obstacle course pathway and explored different ways to step between materials.... Today we dressed in our raincoats, rainpants, and rainboots and enjoyed a morning of discovery in the rain. Frogs, grasshoppers, worms and fish made appearences and little boots balanced, jumped, and splashed. We finished the morning with a story by the pond. We're enjoyed a critter filled Thursday Wild Child. We spotted a Green Heron, held frogs and turtles, and searched out interesting fungi. For today's sit-spot by the water, Lotus visited the E.M. Warwick Conservation Area. There's not much beach left, but there are lots of clay cliffs - hence the colour of the waves!

At Wednesdays Wild Child playgroup, a lot of our adventures involved finding creatures and plants to observe, wonder about, and sometimes, briefly, catch. We saw snakes, frogs, insects, mushrooms, turtles (not pictured), and more! I wonder what well see today.
