It was announced last week that the Canada/US border closure has been extended again, now until September 21st. That takes us to the end of our season... so 2020 will go down in the books as a year without our American friends... We will be in contact with all of our US guests with reservations remaining this season to reschedule for 2021. If you don't have a 2021 reservation yet, contact us ASAP as dates for next season are filling in at an unprecedented rate!

ATTENTION CANADIANS!! Why haven't you embarked on a Houseboat adventure yet? It is the perfect way to celebrate the end of home schooling (yay!), a 2020 graduation or just get your family out of the house for a fresh air adventure! Social distancing is easy when you don't have anyone within 6 MILES of your group, never mind 6 feet!!

The new international bridge from Baudette MN to Rainy River ON is really coming along. Can’t wait to be able to use it!

It has been announced that the Canada/US border closure has been extended until July 21st. We are sad that so many of our American guests have had to reschedule and postpone their houseboat trips and hope that soon things will get back to normal. We are still hopeful that the season will happen and are still scheduling trips in August, September and even into October. We all need something to look forward to and there is nothing more freeing, relaxing and calming than a houseboat vacation on Lake of the Woods! Stay safe and we will be here for you when the border opens up!

A SMALL STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION! We have been given the OK to open the houseboat rentals! Although the CANADA/US border is still closed, this is a step in the right direction. Ontario Wilderness Houseboat Rental is looking forward to launching our houseboats, implementing new cleaning and sanitizing protocol and fine tuning our check in/check out process and opening for the Canadian market very soon! ... Although too early to confirm for sure, we are tentatively planning to be OPEN and READY TO HOST YOUR TRIP for MUSKIE OPENER, JUNE 20th! Currently, there are still many restrictions in place regarding group size, fishing boat rentals and guide services. We expect more information to be released on these details soon and will certainly keep you informed. We are committed to keeping our guests and employees safe, so please understand that we may need to change some of our policies and procedures. We look forward to hosting our Canadian guests in just a couple of weeks for MUSKIE OPENER! Our hope is that our American guests will also be able to join us soon!
