In spite of no rain and no watering system, there is still lots of beauty in our gardens. Wildflowers are mostly adaptive and will survive!

On Thursday June 4, I visited our gardens for the first time since the snow melted. There is a lot of clean-up that is needed. And the invasive plants are running rampant. However, there are lots of healthy looking plants. And what hasn’t come up, perhaps is giving us a message I don’t like this location. Move me. The Christmas Fern is flourishing. The Solomon Seal is looking really regal. Black Cohash is taking over one of the central beds. The Cup-plant, Jerusalem Artichoke, and Culver’s root are very healthy. And all the ferns are beautiful. Can’t wait to see the gardens after a day of cleanupwhich hopefully will be REAL SOON!

SHARP-LOBED HEPATICA--one of the first flowers to push through the snow to greet the sun. The flowers usually appear by mid April.

Wildflower Gardeners are in "winter mode" - using these quiet months to learn, discuss and plan. Bring a lunch and join us at our meetings (inside) at the Wye Marsh every second week for workshops and discussions. The next get-together is January 30, 12:00 noon to 2:30 pm.

This is for Laura. I started this from seed taken from a plant in the parking lot gardens at the Wye Mash. It took 2 years but it is gorgeous. I am pretty certain that this is an azure aster. Can you confirm.
