Air plants... strange and fascinating plants that grab a lot of attention, but most people don’t know much about them. How to water an air plantEvery one to two weeks, soak your air plant in room temperature tap water (or rain/pond water if you can find it) for 5-10 minutes. After soaking gently shake excess water from your plant. Turn it upside down and place it on a towel in a bright space. This is very important! Air plants will quickly rot if they are allowed to stand in ...excess water From the time soaking ends, the plant should be able to dry fully in no more than 3 hours. If your plant stays wet longer than this, it may rot. Try placing it in a brighter place with more air circulation to facilitate faster drying. 1-3 hours is the optimal drying time for your air plant after soaking. Once a week, mist your plant thoroughly, so that the entire surface of the plant is moistened (but not so much that there is water dripping down into the plant). The hotter and dryer the air (summer, early fall) the more you need to water. The cooler and more humid the air (winter and spring) the less water your air plant will need. Remember, though, that heaters and fireplaces dry the air! Do all watering in the morning. Evening soaking or misting disrupts the plants ability to respire overnight, and extends drying time. Air Plant Life Cycle Did you know that air plants flower once in their life? Depending on the species, these blossoms last from a few days to a few months, and can be a whole variety of beautiful bright colors, like pink, red and purple. Flowering is the peak of the air plant life cycle, but also marks the beginning of the plant’s old age - after it flowers, the plant will eventually die. But don’t despair! Just before, during or after flowering, depending on the species, your air plant will reproduce by sending out 2-8 pups. These baby air plants, which start out very small, will eventually grow into their own mother plants. Pups can safely be separated from the mother plant when they’re about - its size. Careful not to remove them too early, as they’re actually receiving nutrients from the mother air plant! #airplants #plant #plants #nature #plantsofinstagram #garden #flowers #flower #green #plantsmakepeoplehappy #photography #plantlover #gardening #cactus #houseplants #naturephotography #tree #succulents #urbanjungle #indoorplants #plantlife #love #art #succulent #beautiful #photooftheday #houseplant #spring #plantstagram #bhfyp #crystaltherapy

Always kill your succulents? Here are some tips and tricks 1. Let there be light... Succulents love lots of light and need at least six hours of sunlight a day to stay healthy. Place or plant your succulents in areas where they will receive enough natural daylight, but take care with newly planted succulents as they can scorch if placed in direct sunlight. Once they are established and fully grown, place them in a more sunny position. 2. Rotate Indoor or Potted Succulents Regularly While succulents love lots of direct sunlight, it is a good idea to rotate them regularly so that each side of the plant receives enough light. Turning your indoor and outdoor potted succulents 180 degrees once a week should ensure that they receive all the light they need and in all the right places. Succulents also lean towards the sun, so turning them regularly will help to ensure a uniform and straight growth. 3.Water according to season. Just like us, your succulents will thrive if they have access to enough water. During the spring and summer months, your succulents will be drinking up as much water as possible, so they have enough moisture to carry them through the fall and winter months. You can test your succulents by placing your finger in the top layer of soil. If the top inch is dry, it's time to grab your watering can. Just be sure not to over-water as this can kill your plants or cause them to develop mold and rot. 4. Apply Water Directly to the Soil When watering your succulents, make sure you soak the soil directly. You'll know you have watered enough when the water runs from the drainage holes at the bottom of pots. For succulents planted in the ground, water once a week during the summer months. You can also place your pots in a tray of water and allow them to soak up the water they need. Remove them from the tray once the top layer of soil is slightly moist. 5. Choose Containers with Good Drainage Choosing good containers for your succulents will make your life so much easier and help to keep your succulents growing and looking their absolute best. Succulents don't do well if they are left to sit in waterlogged soil, so choosing a pot with lots of drainage 6. Choose the Right Soil For Your Succulents Choosing the wrong soil for your succulents could cause your succulents to rot and die very quickly. Succulents require good quality soil that drains excess water away, so yard dirt or regular potting soil won't do. If you are planting succulents in pots, use a special cactus potting soil that contains pumice, perlite or sand. You can also use this type of soil when planting succulents outside in the ground. #plant #plants #nature #plantsofinstagram #garden #flowers #flower #green #plantsmakepeoplehappy #photography #plantlover #gardening #cactus #houseplants #naturephotography #tree #succulents #urbanjungle #indoorplants #plantlife #love #art #succulent #beautiful #photooftheday #houseplant #spring #plantstagram #bhfyp #crystaltherapy

Holding crystals or placing them on your body is thought to promote physical, emotional and spiritual healing. Crystals supposedly do this by positively interacting with your body's energy field, or chakra. While some crystals are said to alleviate stress, others purportedly improve concentration or creativity. #plant #plants #nature #plantsofinstagram #garden #flowers #flower #green #plantsmakepeoplehappy #photography #plantlover #gardening #cactus #houseplants #naturephotography #tree #succulents #urbanjungle #indoorplants #plantlife #love #art #succulent #beautiful #photooftheday #houseplant #spring #plantstagram #bhfyp #crystaltherapy

Benefits of Burning Sage Burning sage, also known as smudging, involves burning sage leaves and letting the smoke purify the air in your home. The purpose of burning sage differs slightly from the reasons for taking it internally. Poor air quality may be linked to various health conditions. In this way, burning sage is seen as a cost-effective way to help purify the air. This is because sage is thought to have antimicrobial properties that help kill bacteria, viruses, and fun...gi. Keep in mind that burning sage creates smoke, which can cause health problems for individuals who are prone to asthma and other respiratory conditions. Some practitioners of alternative medicine believe that burning sage, or taking it internally, can help release negative energy. In addition to burning sage, some people use sage cleansing sprays in their homes. Benefits of burning sage are believe to include: Removing bacteria from the air Repelling insects Improving intuition Purifying specific objects Improving mood and reducing stress and anxiety #plant #plants #nature #plantsofinstagram #garden #flowers #flower #green #plantsmakepeoplehappy #photography #plantlover #gardening #cactus #houseplants #naturephotography #tree #succulents #urbanjungle #indoorplants #plantlife #love #art #succulent #beautiful #photooftheday #houseplant #spring #plantstagram #bhfyp #smudge

The first thing you need to do for proper Boston fern care is to make sure that it’s in the right kind of environment. Boston ferns need a cool place with high humidity and indirect light. When you care for Boston fern plants indoors, it’s a good idea to provide additional humidity for them, especially in the winter. Most homes are rather dry, even more when heaters are running. For extra humidity care for Boston fern, try setting your fern’s pot on a tray of pebbles filled w...ith water. You can also try lightly misting your fern once or twice a week to help it get the humidity it needs. Another step in how to take care of a Boston fern is to make sure that the fern’s soil remains damp. Dry soil is one of the number one reasons that Boston ferns die. Check the soil daily and make sure to give it some water if the soil feels at all dry. Because Boston ferns tend to be planted in potting mixtures that are high in peat moss, it is a good idea to soak the pot of the Boston fern once a month or so to make sure the peat moss is fully hydrated. Be sure to let it drain thoroughly after this. https://www.wildlittleroses.ca/products/6-5-boston-fern . #flowershop #florist #badassbride #macrame #macramewallhanging #brockville #shoplocal #boutique #downtownbrockville #southeasternontario #thingstodoinbrockville #1000islands #flowersplantsandmagic #boho #chic #style
