The kids go back to school tomorrow after the holidays, Winter has hardly begun to show it’s stuff here, but there’s something about January that’s always got me pacing and prepping for the growing season. We’ve got some time still, to be still, but you can bet I started setting up the seedling grow show in the shop tonight. A little ahead of the game? Maybe. But there’s a fire under my feet for 2021. Let the growing (soonish) begin.
And on the darkest days, when I light my candle and settle into the warmth with winter outside my door, I know that you will be waiting for me on the other side of the slumber. Dancing poppy, inquisitive tulip, lady fritillaria.
It’s seed sorting time! Taking stock of what’s left of the pile of dirty seed packets BEFORE ordering new seeds, like someone with willpower and determination would. Wish me luck with my add to cart trigger finger.
People, I’m not going to saturate your feed with reflections and hopefuls. All I aim to say is Look Out 2021. You’ve not yet known resilience. The rumble is coming.
We bought Cedar a backpack, to give her a job on our daily and nightly wanderings. She’s half heeler, half husky so the girl was born to work. She looks like a little postal worker with her saddlebags, so now we ask her if she’s ready to go deliver the mail. We tend to stop by the post office when we’re out, and I think she truly believes its her duty. I’ve never seen her more stoic and serious, then when I lift the key to the mailbox to see what’s inside. She lights up my life.
Merry Everything today, everybody.
Can’t wait. 2021/2022 Booking Season has begun!
Decorating, anyways. Wishing more than ever for a tumble of boots in the mud room, glasses on every surface, laughter and chatter and friends and good cheer.
