Hi friends. Today is the Canadian Day of Visibility for the live event industry. Just in Alberta, there are an estimated 55,000 of us in the supply chain of li...ve events, sports, and gatherings. There are a lot of us. We’re your friends, family, and neighbours. We work for not-for-profits, own and work for businesses, and volunteer our time and skills for community efforts, all the time. The one thing I have heard in the last month that has really resonated with me is: We can’t throw a benefit concert for the people who throw benefit concerts. It’s us who is there for every awareness and fundraising effort ever. Natural disaster? Benefit concert. Disease? Benefit concert. We don’t get our own benefit concert. We just want you to know that we’re here, we’re hurting, and we appreciate your support and advocacy. Today we light up a sombre arrangement of lonely road cases in red at sundown at Olympic Plaza. It’s the non event we never wanted to build, symbolizing the paralysis of our industries. We are lighting our businesses and homes red. We are lighting the Calgary Tower, Scotiabank Saddledome, National Music Centre, McMahon Stadium, and countless other buildings across Canada tonight. Thanks for listening. We know it’s going to be a long time before we can do shows again. Just remember there’s millions of extremely talented humans across the world that do those shows. SEVERE WIND HAS DAMAGED OUR MOVIE SCREEN! We were so excited to share the drive in experience tonight and tomorrow with you all but we are forced to cancel. Our screen is designed for high winds but once up the winds today exceeded that wind rating and a few minutes ago it tore a massive hole in the side of the screen frame. We do have a smaller screen as back up but at this time the winds are so high in that area that we risk damaging this screen as well.... We are so very sorry that this has happened but we can not for safety sake proceed with todays and possibly tomorrow's show. This is heartbreaking as we were so looking forward to it. We are working on another screen option; however, this will not be available for tomorrows show either. If you would like a rain cheque and an invitation to a future event over the next few weeks please let us know and we will honour your ticket for that event. If you would prefer a refund we completely understand and are happy to accommodate. Please go to the event brite app or email and request a refund instead by Monday August 10th. Again, I can't say how sorry we are. We will do our best to rectify the situation. Thanks for your understanding.
