We are excited to share with you this years Artist of the Somenos, Jennifer Hedge! Jennifer has painted this beautiful swan for this years WildWings Nature and Arts Festival! We are still planning for WildWiings 2020 to happen this October, dependent of course on us coming out from under the shadow of Covid 19 by then. Should social distancing guidelines still be in place, we will continue with our smaller outdoor events where social distancing is easily practiced. If we are able to carry on with the full festival it will be one of the first opportunities to kick up our heels in celebration and we hope you will all join us to do so too.
We at WildWings Central are happy to report that this year's Festival was a great success and our best ever. Thanks everyone for helping us achieve this success. The First Place Peoples Choice Award went to Selena Gamble, for her monochromatic colour image, Enchanted Mists. Second place went to David Chang for his image, Moonrise at the Cross, Mt Tzhouhalem. Congratulations to both winners and to all the other photographers who exhibited such great work.

Another WildWings Nature & Arts Festival collaborative event with our WildWings event partners The Cowichan Watershed Board and Vancouver Island University "Wild thing, you make my heart sing. You make everything.... groovy." While we can't promise you the Troggs, we are happy to present Cowichan valley's own eminently groovy, entertaining and knowledge-rich Dr. Dave Preikshot, on the topic of wild things with fins, (aka Wild Fins). Dr Dave is an aquatic scientist with years... of experience in the mud of Somenos Marsh and has amassed a collection of test tube stories from throughout the watershed that reflect the historical changes that our watershed is presently undergoing. Listen to his tale of watershed changes and learn how it’s critters seek to survive and adapt. We don't know yet what Dr Dave plans to discuss - that's what makes it so worth coming! See you there!
