Wilf Hall & Sons Well Drilling is wishing you the best in 2020. We all have to do our best with the situation presented to us and this year has been most challenging. Thankfully, COVID restrictions are gradually being lifted across Canada. GREAT news! Township load restrictions are being lifted gradually throughout our area. More GREAT news! Scheduling for drilling is in full swing. Be sure to keep social distancing (2m) and hand washing foremost in your mind where ever you may be. When we visit your drilling site - we will do the same. When the drill rig arrives, the area will be POSTED to keep you and our workers at a safe distance from each other and our equipment. Thank you for respecting this new way of working. It is an adjustment for everyone. Stay safe.

These are uncertain times we are currently living in. Construction continues and although COVID-19 has disrupted life as we know it - we are still here! First, we send our best wishes to everyone - hoping you are safe and healthy. We encourage you to take your health seriously and follow guidelines that are being set out for all of us. We are still available - we are still working - Questions can be answered, well records reviewed and quotes can given verbally, over the... phone or by email. Scheduling and drilling are currently dependent on local Half Load Restrictions. We are practicing social distancing - we can meet you onsite for your inspection and maintain a 6' (2m) distance between parties. If you are considering a well - please give us a call or visit our website. DON'T FORGET TO WASH YOUR HANDS! #1 recommendation for reducing the spread of COVID-19. Water - such a valuable resource. Groundwater is the water present beneath the Earth's surface in soil pore spaces and in the fractures of rock formations. A unit of rock or an unconsolidated deposit is called an aquifer when it can yield a usable quantity of water. (From Wikipedia) So there you go. We drill until we find an aquifer that can yield "a usable quantity of water" to run your home, water your gardens, and make your life more comfortable. Good luck with all your home building projects this ...year, and don't forget to give us a call for a quote. Need a quote? Call 613 278 0580 or check out our website www.wilfhallandsons.com. Happy Spring!

We get interesting questions sometimes. Do you need a building permit to drill a well? Surprisingly, the answer is no. What do I do with the paper work I receive? Keep it in a safe place. Your plumber will want to see it if you're having a pump installed, or if you have issues down the road. On your behalf, we submit the Well Record within 30 days to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation & Parks. Information includes details of the construction of your well and... it's recovery pump test results. You will receive copies of the documentation within 14 days of drilling. Your well record should remain with your property, and in the event of a sale, it should be given to the purchaser. Information on maintaining your well is also provided. A properly constructed well should last for generations. These rules are in place to protect everyone's health, and to protect the fresh water resources we are so lucky to have. Love these fall mornings! We got off to a slow start this spring with flooding, and inaccessibility to job sites, but we are still going strong! It has turned into a GREAT season and there is still plenty of time to get that new well.

Oh boy.... my water facts have been challenged! By the resident well driller!! According to his studies at Sir Sanford Fleming, and his experience in the industry.... the average Canadian uses 75 gallons of water per day! Now maybe we waste more, because we have been blessed with an abundance of fresh water... as he puts it... "that's an average... if you have teenagers.. it maybe 10X that with extra long showers and laundry!"

I'm totally stealing this information from a website (Seametrics.com). 100 Amazing Water Facts you should know.. Water is the most important resource in the world. 68.7% of the fresh water on Earth is trapped in glaciers. 30% of fresh water is in the ground.... 1.7% of the world’s water is frozen and therefore unusable. Water can dissolve more substances than any other liquid including sulfuric acid. The freezing point of water lowers as the amount of salt dissolved in at increases. With average levels of salt, seawater freezes at -2 C (28.4 F).2

More interesting water facts.... Water is a transparent, tasteless, odorless, and nearly colorless chemical substance, which is the main constituent of Earth's streams, lakes, and oceans, and the fluids of most living organisms. It is vital for all known forms of life, even though it provides no calories or organic nutrients. (Wikipedia)

Incredibly hot days! Remember to water your plants in the early morning, or in the evening. Mid-day, the water will evaporate and damage your plants! The human body is 60% water. The brain and heart 73%!!! (According to H.H. Mitchel, Journal of Biological Chemistry 158) SO ON THESE HOT DAYS.. REMEMBER TO DRINK LOTS OF WATER AND REPLENISH YOUR SYSTEMS!
