Please us on Friday December 10 for a Holiday Drive-Thru event at our Inclusion Langley Society Head office. In previous years, we did a holiday toy drive for the Langley Christmas Bureau. This year is a bit different and while we are still collecting toys, we are graciously in need of gift cards and cash to help families through the holidays. A message from Gord Stewart, the Superintendent of Langley School District!! September is a stressful but also exciting time for all our students. It is also a time for new beginnings for our pre-K children. Our District is focusing on closing the gaps and ensuring we provide robust early learning programming amidst a pandemic. StrongStart will begin on Monday, September 28 with a new registration system, a reduced number of participants, and strict health and safety guidelines. You will be able to find information about the program on our webpage here this week. Stay tuned.....

In a recent article in the New York Times, Lindsey Bill , an occupational therapist suggests the following ideas to help! 1. Wash masks before wearing with unscented detergent to remove chemical or packaging smells. 2. Consider the straps. Experiment with masks that have ear loops or straps that go behind the head. If straps pull the hair try placing them under a ponytail! Add a lock cord so tightness can be adjusted. 3. Sew buttons on a headband or ball cap to hold the ear l...oops. 4. If your child is putting the mask in their mouth, allow gum chewing while wearing the mask. 5. Hand toys like a squishy ball or clay to provide a fidget tool to redirect mask fidgeting. 6. A drop if essential oil on the outside of the mask can distract from unpleasant smells. Citrus and mint tend to pep kids up, while florals tend to soothe. See more

BABY TALK UPDATE It looks as though we are going to have to start with an online/virtual program for now, with the hopes of face-to-face in the near future. Would families still be open to this? Would you want to have some guest speakers as part of our Zoom sessions?

HELLO BABY TALK PARENTS I would like to start up our group sessions again and was wondering what the interest would be from those attending. We do not have an answer when the centre will re-open, so here is what I was thinking:... - we could meet up at a local park once a week to socialize - weather permitting - we could potentially also bring in guest speakers if they are willing - if weather is bad, we could do a virtual meet-up with the possibility of guest speakers as well. I have attended a couple different park days and parents with little ones have attended and they have really enjoyed the socialization. I would also open up the age group to birth-18 months. I do not have a poll option on here, so please comment below if this is something you would like to try. Thank you and I cant wait to see you all again soon.
