An important message from Todd Farrell, Natural and Cultural Heritage Manager, Northumberland County : as of January 9, 2020 Beagle Club trails west of Beagle C...lub Road, including north of Dunbar Road, will be closed each week from Monday to Friday throughout the winter during timber harvest concluding by the end of March. The Beagle Club trails will remain open on weekends both Saturday and Sunday. " Timber harvesting is conducted to maintain healthy forested lands in accordance with forest management best practices. Harvesting operations are an important part of Northumberland County's long-term plans to encourage and facilitate the conversion of Northumberland County Forest conifer plantations into a mixed multispecies forest. Biodiverse ecosystems are vital in fostering a healthy and sustainable forest. Residents with questions regarding the trail closures may contact Natural Heritage Services at [email protected] or call 1-800-354-7050 ext. 2303. For information about recreational trails in the County Forest, visit Northumberland.ca/Trails. "
