Returning to work from a maternity leave can be a challenging transition whether you are ready for it or not. Should employers consider offering a return to work plan for returning mothers? It doesn't matter if your maternity leave was 3 months, 18 months or more, the transition to balancing another life role and adjusting expectations with your mothering role can require added planning, support, and even just encouragement knowing you have a supportive network around you. ... How did your return to work go after a maternity leave? Let me know in the comments or tag someone you think could use extra support! #maternityleave #supportivereturntowork #RTWplanformomstoo #maternalhealth #maternaloccupationaltherapy #willowfamilyOT #ygkOT #inFrontenac
In our society, there is a big focus on a birth plan. Where and how to you want to give birth? What strategies are you going to use to support you during the birth process? Did you know many women do not get to fulfill their birth plan for a variety of reasons? What we think would be supportive to us during labour and delivery may end up being the last thing we need. Still, there is value in having a birth plan, even if it is just to satisfy the need to plan and organize,... as much as possible, a life event that can make us feel out of control! But, what about a recovery plan? How many of you have shifted some focus to organizing a support system and resources for once you have your new baby? I would love to hear what you focused on! Creating a plan for postpartum recovery can ease stress and anxiety, allow a sense of control when we feel so much uncertainty, and ensure that resources are in place before they are needed. Today is Remembrance Day. We honour and give thanks to the veterans who have fought for the freedoms we have today. #weremember #remembranceday
Know your OT! It's so important to know who you are trusting your story to when you reach out for help, especially when you might be at a vulnerable place in your life. https://www.instagram.com/tv/CG5hwb9g0jR/
Happy World OT day to my fellow OTs near and far!
I can't think of a better way to end a busy week. Kids were close by in the sandbox so I took advantage of some hammock time, especially when we are spoiled with 20 degree weather at the end of October! Finding time for our own self care as parents is important. So is encouraging safe, independent play for our children to allow for small windows of time to reset our mind, body, and heart when feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. What is your go to when you need a reset thro...ughout the day? #mommaselfcare #resetyourmind #resetyourbody #maternalOT #occupationaltherapy #groundingformoms #breathe #mindfulmommas #willowfamilyOT #inFrontenac
1 in 4 women will experience pregnancy or infant loss. October 15 is dedicated to honouring the experiences of these women and remembering their babies. If you aren't part of the 1 in 4, know that someone close to you likely is, whether you realize it or not. Reach out, show some love, start talking! #pregnancyandinfantlossawareness #maternalhealth #maternalhealthot #occupationaltherapy #womenshealthOT #1in4women #im1in4 #starttalkingloss #willowfamilyOT #inFrontenac
