Day 677 of things to be thankful for... A few days ago this Long-Tailed Duck decided to visit the Kincardine Marina. As they like the wilder areas of the lake, ...they are not a common sight, but a few come to the calmer, protected harbors as autumn departs. Though the waters were cold and choppy, he spent his time fishing for creatures that the human eye could not see in the murky depths. The fact that winter was coming, the cold winds would soon be blowing, ice and snow would follow, and food would become scarce, had no effect on his day, or his enjoyment of the mild weather. This last week has been very difficult and I sort of envied that duck and his being so blissfully unconcerned about what lay ahead. We found out our son, who lives out west, has aggressive Lymphoma and is very ill. The cold winds began to blow around my soul, fearful thoughts bubbled up from the murky depths of the unknown, and rivers of tears flowed, but that duck brought to mind a comforting truth. God gives us grace for today. We cannot see ahead, but He promises to be there when tomorrow turns into a new today, holding us in His hand and providing all we need. I don't know what the future will bring but I know He who can still the raging storms, will also provide the strength we need so we can have Peace in today and Hope for tomorrow. See more
