Wind and Tide 14.11.2020

Just a reminder to our FOUR-YEAR-OLD families that TOMORROW (Wednesday, November 18) is the LAST DAY to drop off donations for Wind & Tide's UGM Gifts of Hope project! This is such a special and important annual giving initiative for our students, and we are looking forward to Friday afternoon when Union Gospel Mission collects all our Christmas Hampers full of grocery gift cards, gifts, and toys. Each year, we are truly amazed at the support and generosity of our students and their families, and equally grateful for the opportunity to teach our students the great joy that comes from giving to others.

At Wind & Tide, we are proud to provide our students with a special opportunity to feel empowered to care for others. Every November, in preparation for the upcoming Christmas season, Wind & Tide partners with Union Gospel Mission (UGM) for a very special giving initiative. Committed to instilling the importance of being compassionate towards others, our students across all campus locations are invited to collect food, clothing and gifts to fill over 50 Christmas hampers in s...upport of UGM’s annual Gifts of Hope. We are so proud to be able to come together as a community and bring happiness to so many families this Christmas, and to help teach our children the great joy that comes from giving to others. *********** Reminders for Wind & Tide families: Last day to drop off donations to your child’s classroom is Thursday, November 19. Friday, November 20, Parent Volunteer Drivers deliver hampers to the UGM pick-up location you have selected.

IMPORTANT REMINDER! With snow in the forecast in areas across the lower mainland tomorrow, we wanted to take this opportunity to remind families about Wind & Tide's inclement weather procedures. From experience, we also know that snowfall amounts and winter road conditions can vary widely between cities, so it is possible that we may report some closures tomorrow for some of our Preschool/Jr. Kindergarten, School Age Care and Childcare campuses. ... COMMUNICATING & REPORTING CAMPUS CLOSURES PRESCHOOL/JR. KINDERGARTEN & SCHOOL AGE CARE PROGRAMS: Preschool, Jr. Kindergarten and School-Age Care programs WILL ONLY BE CANCELLED if the Public School Districts in which they are located are closed due to weather conditions. School closures are announced on News 1130 and CKNW, as well as on many local TV morning news programs (ex: Global News). Please listen/watch for information regarding the school district for your campus area to determine if your child's class will be in session. CHILDCARE CAMPUSES & PROGRAMS: Any closures affecting CHILDCARE CAMPUSES WILL ALWAYS BE ANNOUNCED BY 6:30AM ON WIND & TIDE’S WEBSITE at www.windandtide.com. A late Childcare opening (8:00AM) may be implemented to provide more time to assess road conditions. For the safety of our students and teachers, if weather conditions worsen while classes are in session, parents are encouraged to monitor the conditions and pick up their child(ren) early. In such situations (particularly for any full-day programs), an email may be sent out to families to alert them of worsening conditions. While it is not uncommon for a Childcare program to close along with the local school districts, we do assess our Childcare campuses on a location-by-location basis, making best efforts to keep our Centres open in order to help meet needs of our families. Any closures will also be posted on our Facebook page. DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS: The decision to cancel a Development Program is made on a location-by-location basis. In the event that a Development program is cancelled due to weather conditions, families will be notified by email in the early afternoon. SAFETY FIRST! Wind & Tide supports individual and family decisions regarding their safety traveling to/from school, so when winter conditions are less than ideal, it is always at each parent’s discretion whether or not their child attends. While all of our locations do their best to ensure that the parking lots and walkways are as clear as possible, depending on the weather conditions and available contractors, conditions can still be slippery. Thus, we urge families to be cautious and always make the choice that is best for them.
