Young snow owls often sleep face down as their heads are too heavy to sleep perched.

Happy Solstice! Owls often swallow their prey whole like this. They have specialized digestive systems that break down their prey items into what their body can process, and everything else! Their gizzards (muscular stomach) compress the rest (hair, bones, nails, etc) into a round or oblong pellet that is then regurgitated before their next meal. Yum!
