Tomorrow is Halloween and this year poses unique challenges to families looking to trick-or-treat in their neighborhoods. ...Each province has provided different recommendations for celebrating the spookiest time of year. Here are some suggestions: Stay home if you are feeling ill, even if you have mild symptoms, or if you are at higher risk for serious illness from COVID-19. Turn off your porch light and don’t hand out treats if you are sick, even with mild symptoms, or are self-isolating. Choose costumes that allow a non-medical mask to be worn underneath (but make sure you can see and breathe comfortably). Minimize contact with others; trick-or-treat with your family or cohort, remain within your community, and stay 2 meters apart. Avoid touching doorbells or railings: Call "trick or treat" from 2 meters away, knock instead of using doorbells, and use hand sanitizer after touching surfaces. Wash hands and disinfect packages before eating any candy. Follow public health advice measures from experts and make decisions based on your own unique situation. Check with your local municipality or public health unit for any additional advice or restrictions that may be in place. If you live in a public health unit region in Stage 3, consider getting a poster to help let your neighbours know whether you are handing out treats. Do your research and stay safe.
