We are very saddened to hear about the passing of our dear brother, Sarwar Mia. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raajioon. Today is his janazah prayer. Please make dua for our dear departed brother. Br. Sarwar was always dedicated to community. In the months leading up to the opening of the Winnipeg Central Mosque in 2004, countless volunteers would come weekly to help clean and renovate our once abandoned building that needed a lot of work. Br. Sarwar would consistently donate p...izzas and drinks from his business every week to feed the hardworking volunteers. Once the masjid opened, he continued to donate pizzas for fundraising on jumma days. Br. Sarwar was a gentle and humble soul, very kind and hardworking. He often cooked delicious meals for hundreds of people for community events and iftars during Ramadan. He was also active in the Bengali community and he served as the president of the Canada Bangladesh Association for many years. Even through illness, Br. Sarwar continued to contribute to community. Br. Sarwar was loved by many and he will be dearly missed. May Allah (SWT) grant him the highest place in Jannah for his kindness, humility, dedication and generosity. May he rest peacefully. Our deepest condolences to all his family and loved ones.

WCM will be temporarily CLOSED as of FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6 until further notice.Winnipeg is currently in the RED zone which is critical. COVID cases are increasing within the city and community transmission is happening. Therefore on the recommendation of the Canadian Muslim COVID Task Force, we have decided to close the mosque until the city is out of the critical zone. Please stay posted for further updates. May Allah (SWT) bless you and your loved ones and keep you all safe. Please continue to be vigilant. May Allah (SWT) help us through this trial. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
