Why don't you sell welded iron railing systems? Although the price of materials is cheaper in an iron system, the cost of installation and welding is astronomical in comparison to a railing system assembled on-site. Welds can also cause rusting over the years, not to mention lots of repainting required. Iron railings are typically not used in new home building projects, it is usually steel, aluminum or PVC. What type of fasteners are best? For most railing systems, the fasteners must be larger than 5-inches with 4 inches of threading to be sufficient, however, it is important to consult with an engineer or architect before making this decision. What is the best way to remove a layer of ice from the deck? Using a hammer or other tools to break up ice on the deck is not recommended, as the risk of damaging the deck is quite high. Using salts such as calcium chloride for a composite deck can be quite effective, however these salts can be harmful for wood decks. Ice melting products are available for wood decks that will not damage the wood.... Find out more about ice and snow removal: http://ed.gr/b64gg
I have pillars on my landing, is it better to bracket the railing to the pillars? Or use a post? Whenever possible, it is always best to bracket the landing railing to the pillar. The reason for this is that the pillars are a structural part of the home, meaning they will be strong and secure for the railing. This can only work if the pillars are smooth and flat. Find out more if your pillars can be used as a apart of your railing:... http://ed.gr/b7gfl
Why is it important to have a railing after a trip to the hospital? Sometimes easy tasks can become difficult after a trip to the hospital. Walking up and down stairs is no exception. Sometimes all it takes is to install a grab rail on the wall to make it easier going up and down. Find out more about how to increase the safety on your front step:... http://ed.gr/b676t
Why are installation times important when choosing a railing contractor? Often, industry wait times for railing installs can be up to 7 weeks, especially for more customized orders. If you call your railing company at the end of summer, by the time it is installed, there might already be snow on the ground. Be sure to plan accordingly, and ask around to see who can have installation done relatively quickly. A great wait time is about a week. If you want to install the railing... yourself, then ask if the materials are ready to be picked up, or if you will have to order them and wait. Why did you choose to sell aluminum railings? I finally decided to go with a prefabricated powder-coated aluminum railing system. Instead of welding the railing to the posts, it simply mounts with brackets and uses self-drilling screws. The price of the aluminum rail was only slightly higher than the steel railings, and since the property had trouble with its steel railings corroding, I decided not to take that chance. The other awesome part about the aluminum was that there ...was no paint involved. Being powder-coated, you don’t risk the paint peeling off or corroding. Why should I be especially concerned during the holidays about having a railing? Slips and falls become more of a hazard during winter months, and being prepared is as simple as having the correct stair railing installed. Did you know that in North America, as many as 1 in 3 seniors will experience a fall this winter? Most falls happen when going down outside stairs because of slippery steps.
