Hi everyone, We know the lockdown has been tough so we've decided to do a bi-weekly virtual open house for filmmakers to check in and talk. It's an informal session: let us know what projects you're working on, what movies you're watching or what food you've been cooking! However, we know everyone's schedules are different. Our first hang out session will be in two weeks- Thursday, Dec. 3rd. If you're interested, what time do you think you can stop by? 3pm or 4pm? ... Let us know!

The Womxn's Film & Video Network is holding a virtual meetup with special guest Charlene Moore! Charlene is an emerging filmmaker from Winnipeg currently finishing her masters in Indigenous Governance. Her film, When the Children Left, screened at Slamdance and won the Manitoba Short Film Audience Choice Award at Gimli Film Festival. She produced the film with NSI’s IndigiDocs program. Charlene is also a sound recordist, road trip badass, and loves Betty White. WFVN is excit...ed to hear about her filmmaking and festival experiences! This is WFVN's first meetup in a while so they look forward to seeing how everyone's doing with COVID-19, how the industry and projects have been affected, etc. All women, non-binary, and/or trans Manitobans welcome! All levels of experience encouraged to join! Come virtually hang to chat filmmaking and connect with fellow Manitobans interested in film and video!

Please take this survey at https://wearerosa.com/ In September 2020, Rosa launched a national bilingual survey to gather baseline data on performing arts and film workers’ experiences related to workplace sexual harassment and violence, and their thoughts on what kind of changes they want to see in their workplaces. The goal of the survey is to gather data to get a full picture of the scale of the problem, the human cost of this issue in Canada and what kind of change is need...ed. Rosa wants to hear from all types of workers in the performing arts, adult industry performers, film, and television sectors, including actors, comedians, dancers, musicians, crew members, interns, writers, directors, and producers. Please note: The survey is survivor-centred and includes links to mental health supports for anyone who might be triggered taking it.

Cinematheque’s Gimme Some Truth Documentary Festival returns for its 12th edition this winter with a new look and a brand-new documentary filmmaking challenge i...n partnership with DOC Manitoba! Instead of the usual 5-day festival in November, we are stretching things out a bit, with screenings of exciting contemporary docs spread out through the winter, culminating in a presentation of the films created in the aforementioned challenge. The Gimme 10 in 30! Doc Challenge is a new documentary incubator challenge wherein 10 participants chosen via random lottery draw will be tasked with completing a new documentary film in 30 days. There are no restrictions or parameters to the films created, except they can’t be longer than 7 mins. Participants can even finish films that are in an existing state of production prior to the challenge, so long as the final touches are completed during the 30 day period. The 10 participating films will be screened at the Cinematheque in December and will be available for VOD rental on Cinematheque at Home thereafter. Deadline to register is November 2.
