November 1 is All Saints Day and the Phil often performed a requiem for our fall concert. What’s your favourite?

We are holding our Safeway Sobeys gift card fundraiser this fall. While COVID has silenced our collective voices, we are still working hard behind the scenes to keep the music alive! Your support is even more important so that we can sing for you when we're allowed. Order deadline is November 14. DM us or contact your favourite chorister!

Fall Update from the Phil: Dear Friends, Thanksgiving has come and gone and, while this may have been a Thanksgiving like no other, we are still grateful. Grateful for our funders, our sponsors, our donors, and, most importantly, for you, our loyal audience. ... We had hoped to be well into rehearsals for a new take on our traditional Christmas with the Phil. Unfortunately, we find that the course of this pandemic means it is impossible for us to make any plans for Christmas, and, perhaps, for the rest of this season. The Board nevertheless continues to devise scenarios that might allow you and us to once again experience the joy of choral music. We are currently working on a way for our choristers to continue honing their musical skills and, hopefully be ready to perform as soon as public health measures allow. We will keep you posted by email as well as on our website and via social media. While we continue developing our plans, we hope that you and your loved ones stay safe. Please join us in following all the guidelines set out by public health experts and scientists, including continued handwashing, physical distancing, and wearing face masks where required. The safety of our audience (and our choristers!) is of utmost importance, for without you we are only in a constant state of rehearsal. There’s a song that Pete Seeger adapted from an old hymn tune: Thru all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul How can I keep from singing? While it’s difficult to imagine right now what the new normal will look like for our choir and our audience, we are quite confident that just as our choristers cannot keep from singing, our audience cannot keep from listening. And so until we can all be together again, virtually or in person, all of us at the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir choristers, Yuri, Judy, and the board wish you and yours good health and harmony.
