Merry Christmas + Happy New Year, from my home to yours! My Christmas Tree is filled with special ornaments from my travels. Of course there's a few camera's on it! They bring back so many memories that I treasure every year. I look forward to 2021 to creating special memories for my friends and clients once again. Until then... stay home and stay safe!

I'm still receiving call's for portraits, family portraits, and weddings in December. I've even had someone ask me to keep it off the books. I just assumed people would know what essential is, but I'm wrong... Photography is deemed a non-essential service, so unfortunately I'm temporarily closed. I can do retouching on old photographs, design a digital album, cards from previous shoots, you can even purchase a gift card if you like. But absolutely no photo shoots until it's safe. Since this pandemic started I've been extremely careful with family, friends and clients. I have a moral obligation to do the right thing. Let's all do our part to try and get this curve down! Come on Manitoba we can do this!!!

Darlene contacted me for a portrait to celebrate her 25th birthday. She wanted something simple, timeless and classic. She inquired about bringing her boyfriend as they were going out for dinner to celebrate her birthday. Little did she know her boyfriend Tristen privately contacted me as he was going to propose during the photoshoot. Sept. 1 1990, was the day I registered Photography by Michele. At the time I was Magellan's company photographer formally known as Bristol Aerospace. Employed from 1987-1994. Employees would ask me to photograph their weddings and families, and it just snow balled from there! I still photograph at Magellan and see many familiar face's. I'm grateful for all my friends, colleagues and clients who have supported me over the years. It would have been nice to celebrate this milestone, however 2020 is showing us how to keep focused on what's important in life. SOOooo cheers to 30 years!

Meet George Mitchell, his new book is called Treasures of Winnipeg's Historic Exchange. It's coffee-table sized, 272 pages, coming out early October, at McNally Robinson, Indigo etc and on Amazon. Over the past few day's I've had every event, group photo and portrait cancel services. I'm definitely OK with all of it. The Health and safety of everyone is top priority. I've decided not to take on any work other than retouching services. This was the last family portrait taken 11 day's ago. They already have their prints, except this one. Often my favourite is not the family favourite. I spent a little time today retouching out the stripes as my recomendation for all white tops wasn't followed. LOL anyway, it's a good example of my retouching services. Be well + stay safe everyone!

I'm not a fashion expert, but alway's try to give some practical advice on how to dress for a portrait. Colour Coordinating and same style are the keys of success. Tips: Wear solid colours, as the attention will go to your face, not your clothes. I'm not a fan of stripes (ever) as they give me vertigo. But they seem to work ok in this family portrait.

Every 2 years I force myself to sit on the other side of the camera. I don't like having my photo taken! The professional photographers who have taken my portrait in the past know what a pain I am in front of the camera. I just pretend I don't know how to pose myself and they always get annoyed....LOL This year my friend Bruce Hendricks with Impact Photographic Design has to put up with me. If you don't like having a professional portrait taken, I understand how you feel. Selfie's are ok for quick snap shot to record a moment in time. But you still can not beat beautiful light/posing with a professional behind the camera. Bruce Allen Hendricks MPA, F.Ph, F/PPOC-BC, CPP is one of the most decorated and award winning photographers in Manitoba history. Stay tuned for my 2020 update!

Eagle feathers are considered sacred by many Indigenous peoples. Today, Elder Ed Azure presented eagle feathers to @mbcourts and the SCC. People will be able to hold an eagle feather in #Manitoba courtrooms when giving evidence. #SCCinWinnipeg

I'm grateful to have a studio, especially during this rainy week. Just a sweet family for the baby's baptism.

Facebook title pages are long and narrow. Great for landscapes, but anything else needs a little adjusting. I'm sure most don't have the software to create photos that actually fit. Here's a little before/after to show you what is possible. The blank space is left for the profile photo and name. You'll have to click on it to see the whole image. It was my privilege to photograph Andrew Swan. I’m excited to tell you that Andrew is seeking the NDP nomination for Winnipeg Centre. With your help, he can be the next Member of Parliament for the heart of Winnipeg! Winnipeg Centre needs a better MP someone connected to our community, who will speak up for all of us. Andrew has lived and worked in Winnipeg Centre for the last 28 years, it’s where he and his wife raised their family. For 15 years Andrew has been the MLA for... Minto, and has worked hard both on Broadway and on Sargent to be both a strong voice and a friendly face for the West End. The heart of Winnipeg is an incredibly diverse and wonderful place.
